"Porn Guardian Scores Big Against Illegal Torrents"
-
After weeks of careful negotiation, Piracy Stops Here, dba Porn Guardian is very pleased to announce that it has consummated a deal with the highly popular peer-2-peer sharing torrent site GayTorrent.ru, located in the Russian Republic. Porn Guardian has traced thousands of infringing files on tube sites and cyberlocker storage sites back to initial torrents that had been housed on GayTorrent.ru. “The site owner has agreed to work with us to remove all infringing content owned by Porn Guardian clients, over the next several weeks, beginning with those files we deem to be most egregious,” said Porn Guardian partner Peter Phinney. “This is a giant step in the fight against digital piracy of adult content. It puts one of the most important, high-profile offenders on the right side of the law for the first time in years. We hope other torrent sites under pressure from our clients will follow this extraordinary example of a sea change in Peer-2-Peer sharing.”
“While Porn Guardian represents a variety of adult content niche clients, the gay side of the industry has been our mainstay for years,” added Porn Guardian partner Dominic Ford. “This new truce in the war on piracy will have a profound impact on infringements across 80% of our 350 client brands.” GayTorrent.ru has developed a special backend removal tool that will allow Porn Guardian to instantly delete infringing torrents, and then follow-up with standard DMCA language and takedown notices. Since time is of the essence in the spread of pirated material online, this new tool is a real game-changer.
“We hope that by removing torrents virtually as soon as they appear, we will be able to stem the initial spread of stolen videos,” said Phinney. “This is huge for the gay side of adult!” Porn Guardian continues to negotiate with other torrent networks and the owners of GayTorrent.ru have agreed to do what they can to encourage their colleagues to follow their example. “We spend a great deal of time promoting legal business models to the more prolific piracy networks, and combining that push to bring illicit sites into compliance with the law, with the extreme pressure Porn Guardian exerts on payment processors, banks, advertising networks and credit card companies has really paid off,” said Peter Phinney. “We’re using a carrot and stick approach, and it’s working.”
By making monetization extremely difficult, and by offering an alternative, legal approach and a new rights-compliant business model, Porn Guardian hopes to change to face of piracy, one offending site at a time. “The piracy problem didn’t come about overnight,” added Dominic Ford. “It’s going to take some time to turn things around. But this is a key change we hope everyone will look back to in coming years and say ‘That’s when we finally began to win the war.”
Taken with Porn Guardian’s work providing evidence in several successful, high-profile legal cases including the end of Oron.com, and Porn Guardian’s unique monetization program for content owners through FilesMonster.com, the protection of intellectual property rights in adult now seems plausible. Where there was only despair about piracy a year ago, there is now a glimmer of hope that continued diligence, pressure against indifference, and offers of a better way through compliance might finally bring piracy under control and effect some permanent solutions to protect content distribution and intellectual property rights.

I was alerted to this from another site. I wonder if anyone here has a comment.

What is this "special tool" that allows Porn Guardian to delete torrents here? And will we be getting the DMCA take down notices from GT.ru, or from Porn Guardian?
-
Interesting point which I hadn't thought about.
I had assumed the "standard DMCA language and takedown notices" would be sent to gt.ru admin by PG. It's bad enough being told by gt.ru staff you've made a cock up. It would be quite worrying to be told by a third party.
And I see what you mean by having that third party apparently able to manipulate posts on the site.
I'm sure I'm getting the wrong end of several sticks ???

This takedown tool is only for PornGuardian to send GTRU direct requests. One-way channel from them to us –- NEVER to any users. This is NOT like the American's new 6-strikes system that sends infringement notifications to people. The user experience and guaranteed personal privacy here at GTRU has not changed.
We have never, nor will we ever, reveal any information about users to anyone. This is policy since the start of GTRU seven years ago. And it is our most sacred policy and promise we have to our users.

thx riddler to point that out !
We do not hand out any user informations
hope that clears the situation. -

But how does Porn Guardian even know what torrents are available here, to send a take down request?
I presume they have an account here? Does that not mean they are tracking our IP numbers?
-
As long as a site is open for new members, may it be by invitations or open signup, it is possible for them to get an account.
Their personal seems to be around on all four big semi-private gay-torrent sites and numerous other general public or semi-public, see for example there > hXXp://www.pornguardian.com/publicstats.php
That is nothing really new.IMHO, if they would be after the individual members of the torrent sites via IP tracking, it would be known. Nevertheless, me prefer to use a VPN.
For tracking they provide rather a "Source-Trace Watermarking Service" as they call it. That is a way to track the down the subscription site's member who first shared a movie. With that the site owner has much better information to identify that member: his subscription information (for example a selection of credit card number, e-mail, IP, name and address, date of birth, ID card number for age verification etc …)
See as an example of such technologies > https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=20023.0 -

Reading the Porn Guardian site their main 'service' is to identify sites where their clients' material might be being shared. They then boast that they can get that material removed in (usually) five minutes.
They don't seem to be in the business of chasing downloaders (or even primarily, uploaders), just getting torrents deleted from sites.
As I understand it the only people at gt.ru who know your IP address from info on this site are you and the staff.
-
I would add that not all Staff Members have access to IP addresses. That ability is limited to a very few members of the GT.ru Staff.

This is exactly the reason why there is such a great amount of bad porn lately. Not just on GTRU of course. Just look at all that twink porn on the site with barely 15 y.o. kids. Apparently Porn Guardian has nothing against those torrents as themselves are problably watching & jacking off.
I don't watch porn 24/7, however I do visit GTRU almost daily and expect to find something eye-pleasing, just as everyone else. But this kind of attitude is very aggravating & cynical when you know they're involved only by the scent of money studios give them. I'm all about protecting content rights, but I believe content makers should fight the fire themselves, not put some stinky money takers in between and act all tough writing such articles.
Now I'm even less motivated to spend my cash on porn knowing where that money eventually ends. Disgusting.

Thank you for clarification, leatherbear, I suspected as much

… Just look at all that twink porn on the site with barely 15 y.o. kids. ...
If you find any torrent for content of which you have evidence that a model is barely 15 y.o., please immediately report that torrent and share the evidence with us. We'll immediately verify the evidence and take it down (no Pornguardian needed there) and add it to our ban list.
In case the origin of a content can't be verified and it is with potential under age models, it will be taken down, too.

There are studio spies on every torrent site imaginable; not only porn. On GTRU, if they sign-up on open registration or another member sends them an invitation, they can easily gain an account. But as with any user, they CANNOT see usernames, e-mail/IP addresses or any other type of personal information. Only browsing the torrent library list. SECURITY is always our highest priority at GTRU and will NEVER change. It is guaranteed we have the most privacy protection mechanisms compared to any other gay torrent site. We have THE BEST programming team anywhere.
Since 2008, we have honored takedown requests when DIRECTLY contacted by studios.

I think the best thing, as consumers, that all of us can do is to never purchase porn from the clients of Porn Guardian. Seriously, no matter how good it is or how great your desperation if you know that the video is produced by one of Porn Guardian's clients the pass it by - don't give them money, don't promote the client's product and avoid doing any business with any of Porn Guardian's clients.
Nothing hurts a vendor more than losing sales and gaining a poor or hated reputation. Torrents are a great form of free promotion. I know that I have found a torrent here and liked the genre so much that I have gone off to the Vendor's site and purchased far more videos then I would find as torrents. Now I avoid those vendors who fight against torrents/downloaders like the plague.
If we all did that Porn Guardian would have no clients.
The first thing we need is a list of Porn Guardian's clients. Anyone have that? If so, post it here.
