A Billion Wicked Thoughts: What the Internet Tells Us About Sexual Relationships co-author Ogi Ogas made a somewhat startling claim about straight men's use of the Internet during an appearance on HuffPost Live.

"We know from the numbers there's an overwhelming interest among heterosexual men to look at penises – the numbers are just enormous," the neuroscientist and scribe noted. "Yet every time I talk about this, I've yet to have a guy come up to me and agree to it."

Ogas' book, co-written with fellow neuroscientist Sai Gaddam, aims to reveal the mechanics of sexual relationships, including the differences between male and female sexuality and the "teeming diversity" of human desire.

I think there is a temptation to read into too much of straight men looking at penises. Even if this were the gay, this wouldn't mean they were gay or were sexually interested in the penis. I watch straight porn ocasionally, and don't mind looking at pussy - although I am 100% gay and just watch it because i'm interested in the man.

I have two theories: one is that it is a natural instinct for men to size-up the competition. This is animalistic and fundamental - perhaps men with bigger penises were better at mating. (Although, there must be an ideal, Goldilocks size!) My other theory is that it might have something to do with penises being very taboo, or rather "looking at another man's penis" being a very taboo subject. There are unwritten social codes that we must not look at other guys' dicks even though they are displaying them right beside you. I think this is kinda tricky with straight porn and straight guys. On the screen an actor is fucking a girl (or girls) the straight dude want's to fuck. Automatically this makes the actor competition. I imagine subconsciously he's measuring himself up against this guy. I don't think this means he's sexually aroused at the penis though.
