What happens to seed bonus awarded in certain situations?
-
I’m curious as to what happens to seed bonus points given in certain situations. I award points at the same time I download the torrent file. The main reason I do this is because, if I wait until I watch the associated video, I’d probably never get around to going back and finding the torrent, etc. If I end up not liking the video, well, that’s the chance I took.
But what about seed bonus given to people who upload a torrent that’s found to be a duplicate, which eventually gets merged with the original? Do the bonus points migrate to the original uploader? It would seem a bit unfair that someone would keep the bonus when they didn’t put in the necessary effort to search ahead of time.
Also, what about bonus points given on torrents that were never completed. Checking the dead torrents section, I found a couple with 100 or more bonus points that had 0 completions. Not that I’m worried about getting any points back, but it would be nice to know that someone wasn’t being rewarded for not finishing the job they started.
Since I couldn’t find anything in the Rules of the FAQs, I’m not if I’m out in left field or not. But in the second case, where someone didn’t seed a torrent to completion, maybe a future site enhancement would be that seed bonus points would be in some sort of “pending” status, and only hit the uploader’s account once they’ve seeded a torrent to completion.
Other than that, thanks to gt.ru for being the top of the tops. :hug2:

To make it simple: The system and the moderators got no means at the moment to take away seed bonus points or to transfer other than our own.
Normally we try to follow up not completely seed torrents closely and our action can be very severe (it depends on the reaction of the member, no reaction is the worst), however as we can't take away and give back seed bonus points they remain with the uploader.
