To make it simpler: CIA-USA were involved, intensively, in preparing the war - as well as conducting it.
NYT blows apart narrative of "unprovoked, unprovoked, unprovoked".
CIA-USA over many years, knew what "red lines" were set & broke them knowingly to make Russia retaliate.
NYT story doesn't say it that way - but gives details.
It looks like CIA-USA-NYT want new narrative of "yes we planned to take down Russia, oops we failed, blame Zelensky".

On nuclear theme: Zelensky ex-advisor says Ukraine “plan to blow up the nuclear power plants”.
Oleksiy Arestovych worked very closely with Zelensky until January 2023, when he was removed from office after publicly admitting, among other things, that the Ukrainian military was to blame for the destruction of an apartment building in the city of Dnipro and the deaths of 46 people...
...he reveals that the head of Ukraine’s military intelligence service – Kirill Budanov – has developed a plan that could be fatal for the whole of Europe.
The plan is to blow up all of Ukraine’s nuclear power plants – and possibly some of Russia’s as well – if all other defenses fail and the war is deemed lost.
