Torrent Update/Fix
-
:fap: Well, I think I f&*%@d myself. A while back GT.ru reloaded a number of files under different locations then they were originally downloaded. I attempted to correct this but after clicking to download the tracker, it ended up just downloading the entire file and overwriting the file I already had. I ended up wrecking my ratio. I have a number of files that are not seeding that should be seeding but can't find postings with instructions on how to re-connect the torrent. Anyone have any good threads that go over the right way to do this. I'd like to be able to download later this year instead of 2015. :afraid2:

[off-topic]Try Freeleech torrents you like and which got enough remaining Freeleech duration that you can finish their download. They can only improve the share ratio for download rights taken members. ;)[/off-topic]
We have the very basic way described in the FAQ > Uploading > How to reseed:
https://www.gaytorrent.ru/faq.php?lan=1#505You can as well look to section 4.0 Seed the Torrent of the New Upload Guide draft, that describes what to do to reseed:
https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=18666.0Then we got a pictured guide for µTorrent/BitTorrent there Guides > How to Re-load & RE-Seed Already Downloaded Files. [Guide With Pictures]:
https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=6539.0The short version is:
1/ Load the torrent and don't start it!
2/ Click with the right mouse button on the torrent in µTorrent's list and select "Advanced" > "Set Download Location…" > navigate to the file location and confirm (Save)
3/ Right mouse button click on the torrent in µ/BitTorrent's list and select "Force re-check". The torrent should check to 100% and µTorrent displaying "Finished" instead of "Stopped" in the status column.
4/ Restart the torrent, it shall go to "Seeding" or at least to "Queued seeding"If that fails:
1/ Recommendable with a single file torrent:
a) Selecting the torrent in µTorrent's/BitTorrent's file list, then the "Files" tab in the lower window part
b) Right mouse button click on the file and select the "Relocate…" function in the list (last item)
c) Navigate to the file, select it and confirm "Save" or "OK"
d) Force a recheck and once checked to 100% start the torrent2/ Recommendable if a multiple file torrent:
a) Delete the torrent, but not the data files, from µTorrent's/BitTorrent's file list
b) Go to the torrent description page on GayTorrent.ru, click "Download" and open with µTorrent/BitTorrent
c ) When µTorrent/BiTorrent opens the torrent, it shall show a small window to confirm the download location. There click the ". . ." button
d) Navigate to the file, respectively folder, from which the torrent has been created, select it and confirm "Save" or "OK"
e) Force a recheck and once checked to 100% start the torrent3/ If above fails, remove the torrent from µTorrent/BitTorrent and load it again.

Thank UWE. I'll give these a shot and see if I can re-seed some of these files. What I don't get, and probably will after reading those threads, is how to update a torrent with the new direction. Excuse my ignorance - is that the hash? I check the file name, title, file size, etc to make sure it's the same. Getting it to connect is the hard part for me.
Thanks again. :cheesy2: -
That is relatively easy …
The basic FAQ way:
If you have copied the data file into the default download folder before you reload the torrent into your torrent client programme, the programme will find it there. You may need to run a recheck. The µTorrent/BitTorrent pointing to any other location way:

2/ Click with the right mouse button on the torrent in µTorrent's list and select "Advanced" > "Set Download Location…" > navigate to the file location and confirm (Save)
3/ Right mouse button click on the torrent in µ/BitTorrent's list and select "Force re-check". The torrent should check to 100% and µTorrent displaying "Finished" instead of "Stopped" in the status column.
4/ Start the torrent, it shall go to "Seeding" or at least to "Queued seeding"or
1/ Load the torrent, µTorrent/BitTorrent will show a small window with the target download location. Click there the ". . ." button.
2/ Then navigate to the file location and confirm (Save). Don't start the Torrent.
3/ Right mouse button click on the torrent in µ/BitTorrent's list and select "Force re-check". The torrent should check to 100% and µTorrent displaying "Finished" instead of "Stopped" in the status column.
4/ Start the torrent, it shall go to "Seeding" or at least to "Queued seeding"Both ways are equal.
