Asked for security code every 4 clicks.. entered code ALWAYS fails the 1st time
-
Hello,
since of today (or maybe yesterday) when browsing torrents I keep getting asked to enter a security code..
Like every 4th torrent or so… it seems to vary, not sure..The 1st code I enter ALWAYS fails (I checked that it was 100% correct)
Is this a bug from your new and improved security settings (mentioned on the home site)?

Hello, ardan!
First, let's be clear that this is not a bug. But it is the result of the new improved security measures. Yesterday some extra measures were implemented to strengthen the security of the site and the users against spyware and data-mining bots. As a result, you are asked to provide a security code if you try to view the description of several (not four) torrents in a row.
Because of your post, I went back and checked if anything had changed. I was able to view the description of 12 torrents in a row, and only when I tried to view a thirteenth torrent, I was asked to provide the security code. The procedure is very simple: you write down the 6-digit code that appears and then press Continue. It only takes a couple of seconds if done correctly. I did the same thing at least five times today: always I was able to view 12 torrents and at the 13th I was asked for the code, which when I entered never failed. Next time try to be more careful when you enter the code.
The reason for all this is to prove you're human and not a bot. The inconvenience is minimal. Take into account that those measures are for your own safety.

thanks for your reply :
I checked, and it was more than 4 torrents this time..
I might have miscalculated, due to opeing torrents in new tabsAnd I found out why the code did not work the last few times on the first try..
I used tabs! I usually open interesting torrents in new tabs..Then, I check those tabs, starting with the 1st one opened…
If that tab asks for a code and I enter it, it is wrong because another (newer) tab is asking for a different codeSo, I know now what to do
I hope my explanation made any sensecheers

That's exactly why users get an error in entering the captcha code –- they're busy opening dozens of new windows at a time and miss the first indication they need to enter the captcha code. Every new window after that causes a new and different captcha code, again and again for however many windows they open beyond the first captcha request.
The frequency of times the captcha requests will be made has been relaxed, so users shouldn't see it as much. That is, unless you're a super porn page clicker or a bot trying to open up hundreds of windows at a time. Then our system will catch you!

short question: how can bots get into the site anyhow?
I mean, there is a login required, right? and you can only register using an invite, correct?
or do registered users use bots? -
At occasions we got open registration. It are users logging in and then let run their bots …

I would still consider it a bug that the first captcha is invalidated when opening a second tab.
Fortunately, there's an easy fix for tab loving people like me: Reload the tab, enter the captcha, then reload the other tabs with captchas (which should disappear now).

Great tip! :ok2:
