Gay Republican Commits Suicide Because of Obama Victory
-
"The stakes were the highest they have ever been in a presidential election, and some viewed the outcome as a matter of life or death. A Key West, Florida man took his own life two days after President Barack Obama won a second term in The White House, having previously warned loved ones of his intentions to kill himself in lieu of an Obama victory.
Henry Hamilton was found dead on Nov. 8, with his home littered with empty pill bottles. According to palmbeachpost.com a suicide note was found that said:
"Do not revive! F*ck Obama!"
Hamilton lived with his partner Michael Cossey, who was the first to find the body after returning home from an evening out with friends.
Cossey says Hamilton told him "If Barack gets re-elected, I'm not going to be around."
Florida officials do not believe Hamilton's death to be anything other than a suicide and will not be investigating the matter further."

Seeing it from outside, killing yourself for the victory of Obama could seem for a gay a contradictio in terminibus Vampy. Not that I've ever been a great Obama's fan too but if politics have been deemed amongst many other things as a collective search for the lesser evil I don't think I would have voted for Romney if, being gay, I had been American. Nevertheless, sic stantibus rebus, two other possibiities seem left. First the sucide had other reasons. Secondly there could be some paths inside the republican party in the USA I know nothing of allowing sorta social recognition to gay ppl.

To kill yourself over such matter for me is mark of desdain for life… and talks about the poor character of someone to take loss so badly, and who would vote for Romney the man was lying threw his teeth in all matters, with so many republican candidates they picked the worst.

I have never understood the whole "Log Cabin Republicans" to begin with ~ Gay and Republican seems like oil and water to me ~ they do not mix.
For one our of our Gay Brothers to commit suicide over Obama's reelection seems very strange to me and there must have been other issues for this man.
May he Rest in Peace and his loved ones find Peace of Mind as well. :cry2:

When a man looks back at a life filled with regret, mistakes, bad fortune, and missed opportunities, he is filled with an anger he cannot control, a spite which he cannot ignore, and a desire for retribution against those who wronged him which may never come to pass.
It is in the face of these feelings and the pain that accompanies them that he will perform his final act, his Götterdämmerung— a masterful performance by a lifelong actor which, he hopes, will inveigle those in the audience who survive him from discovering the real villain responsible for what is ultimately a lamentable squandering of the gift of life — himself.

I agree with Spintendo 100%. Obama didn't cause anyone's demise. The poor man obviously had issues. My question is, if this person made his intentions clear, why wasn't someone insisting on therapy and/or a suicide watch? He should have been admitted to a hospital at the very least. That kind of talk can never be taken lightly. I thought we all knew that by now.

Having lived in Florida for many years I know that it would have been a fairly easy process to have this man placed under a "Baker Act" that would have involuntarily confined him for 72 hrs for evaluation at least. It would have had the potential for a longer confinement if found to be necessary.
This is truly a sad state of affairs indeed and raises more questions than answers provided thus far. :cry2:
