Best VPN's?
-
I know this topic comes up frequently, but the technology horizon moves quickly and there might be things out there now that didn't exist a few months ago. The purpose of this post is to get input/comments from other users on VPN's they use/used to use, and what they like/didn't like.
Here are the things I think I'd like in a VPN:
-
Anonymity on torrent sites
-
Anonymity in searching the dark web. (Note: I do not currently access the dark web, but I'm curious.)
-
Not too much of a hit on upload/download speed. Both of my homes have fast (5700Mb down, 30 Mb up) so losing a bit of that won't hurt.
-
Reasonable price--doesn't have to be dirt cheap, but shouldn't be exorbitant.
-
Ability to toggle off. I might not fully understand this, but if I'm using a VPN in Germany, shopping for cars on Ford.com will recognise my location and redirect me to the Ford.de site. If I can easily shut off the VPN, I'll be back to the Canadian or US site, depending on where I am.
FYI, I'll be using this primarily from Canada (Alberta) and the US (California), although I travel all over the world.
Thanks for any insights you may have.

I like to use my VPN to watch Netflix, etc from different countries.
Surf Shark does not mask my actual location when I do this. They (video services) always know I'm using a VPN and block me.

@eobox91103 I use PrivateVPN. Not only does it mask the location to be able to do things like get Netflix in other countries, but it also supports port forwarding, which is necessary for proper use with our site.
All server locations forward at least ONE port, which you can use for your torrent client. On most servers it's a randomized port, which changes every time you connect, however they also have a list of servers that give you a dedicated IP address and forward ALL ports. For me, these dedicated IP servers are most convenient.
