Funny story about sex and the law.. from my days matriculating at a University

When I was matriculating (that means studying) at my University, there was an incident on-campus in which someone's car was stolen.
About a week later, the campus police recovered the car. But there was still an issue.
It seems that the owner of the car was keeping all of their porn videos, sex toys, etc. in his car, so that his roommate would not find it.
When the guy got his car back, he did not get any of his porn videos or sex toys back.
The guy complained, and was told that they did recover his porn videos and sex toys, but that they were obscene, and considered to be contraband - and he could not have them back. He was told they were incinerated. (more likely they were taken home by the cops). Their reasoning was that if he had illegal drugs in his stolen car, he would not be getting those illegal drugs back. Likewise, he wasn't going to get his porn videos and sex toys back because they were considered to be obscene.. and there is no legal protection for things like child pornography, illegal drugs, and anything considered to be obscene. In my own personal experience, I once purchased some gay porn magazines and a gay Falcon video in Holland, and then travelled with them to England. Customs seized them, and they told me they would be destroyed. Actor Alan Cumming (famous for Cabaret and the X-Men movies) said that when travelling with a suitcase of sex toys, he had them all confiscated by customs officials.
