What does snatched mean?
-
In terms of a torrent - how many times it's "snatched" does that just mean downloaded? This is probably such a noob question, haha
-
@drewbiedoo You have it (edit: almost) right
All of us had to learn different torrenting terms!
Edit: Snatched does mean downloaded, but as a free leech, per below!

That is what I understand, too. That "snatched" message only appears when I download freeleech torrents. In the rest of the downloads, it just says "Downloaded".
-
I'm not 100% sure, but while in a speaking vernacular, "snatched" and "downloaded" are synonymous, in terms of the tracker there is a difference:
- downloaded files count against your ratio
- snatched files do not
The tracker "tracks" ALL of your files, so a "free leech" is free (WRT your ratio), but it is not unnoticed...
So, long story short - it's a tracker thing... otherwise, snatched and downloaded mean the same...
-
I've never noticed the distinction.
Thank you both for today's education

Yes, Thank you all
I was asking because I'm reviewing torrents I've uploaded only today. one was snatched 308 times already and I don't know if that does well for my ratio if someone spent point to make it freeleechAlso if snatched means downloaded, then yay. I'll need to keep uploading more of that guy if it's what people want
-
@ricky I ALWAYS forgot what snatch means.. LOLOL Thanks for the reminder!!
-
I GUESS like A hit and run? download but not seed?
-
@unluckybotto Always seed! As long as you can, above a fair 1-to-1 ratio as much as possible.
Hit and Run hurts everyone
Glad you asked on that
