A massive drop of ratio after one torrent
-
Hello,
I'm quite new here, but in the few days I've been here I tried to seed as much as possible, even when I'm not downloading.
It got to the point where my ratio was 64.x and I was very proud of myself (for the record, my UL is 2.08 GB and my dl is 799.74 MB)
Less than three hours ago, I've downloaded a torrent without much popularity (around 26 peers). Since then my ratio had dropped to a whooping 2.6, meaning a decreace of 97% of my ratio. Now since the torrent doesn't have a high demand, there aren't any peers downloading off my, so I fear my ratio will only go down from here.Any advice will be appreciated, thanks in advance

26 peers is actually a popular torrent here. Â If you sort all torrents by the number of seeders, only 111 have over 100 seeders.
If you have only downloaded under 1 GB, then anything you download is going to affect your ratio in a huge way. Â After a few years and a lot more downloading, a 1 GB download will only affect the third digit after the decimal point in your download total and much less in your ratio.
You are smart to be thinking about your ratio now.
The best tip is to stick to newer freeleech torrents. What you want to do is get in on a freeleech torrent when there is only one or just a few seeders.

If you can find some high quality content and create a torrent to upload here, you can get a lot of upload credit that way.
Also seed 24/7 for seedbonus points you can exchange for upload credit.

Thank you for all your tips!
I still didn't download more than 1 gb, but I understand that downloading heavier files (such as 555 photos) can affect my ratio so much.
If I may, I have a newer problem (and even a more critical one). Because I am a horsemen of the Apocalypse when it comes to technology. I managed to fuck things up and had to reinstall windows completely, thus losing all of my torrents and files for seeding*.
It may come a bit selfish, but for the sake of my account, my first priority is to bump up my ratio once again to a "safe zone" (because between my last message and this one, my ratio dropped to 2.6). How do you recommend to do so?
Of course I want to seed because it's the right thing to do, but being banned won't help anyone.*Technically I do have one file left on another computer, but I won't be able to reach it until Tusday

It's not selfish to worry about your ratio, it's smart. So many people get off on the wrong foot with their ratio. Just focus on freeleech torrents for a while and you shouldn't have problems building up a good ratio based on a decent amount of downloading and uploading.
