Created cover art when official cover art is not available.
-
Would like to hear some thoughts on this.
For my own collection, I prefer to have (a version of) the original cover art, both front and back sides.
However there are instances I've noted where this is not available.
- The art has presumably been lost to time (for now at least),
- The available art's resolution is simply too low to be of use,
- The title, despite being an official release, has never had cover art created (i.e downloads, streaming, etc.),
- The title has been made available as digital ahead of physical production and the cover has yet to be released. In the instances above, I will most often create cover art for my collection.
My question to the group is this: When I create cover art for a title, would the group like for me to add it to the pictures on the torrent so everyone can use it if they like?
I ask because I'm don't want to seem as though I'm purporting these to be "official pieces". I simply make these for my own use and would like to know if others would like them as well.
As an example, I've attached copies of a recently posted title for which I just made such covers: "Captured Stray"
Thoughts?

I don't keep covers for videos but I do like to have them for music and have fixed many and cropped and adjusted photos to substitute for a few missing ones, but have never done anything like creating a missing one that looks better than the originals, as you did. A lot of people would like to use them and the torrent page is an obvious place to put them. I don't know if you can or should or want to claim credit for them for legal reasons, but maybe you could get work doing covers and other graphic art if you're not already a professional graphic artist.

As for the worry about people thinking they are real covers, just put a note in the description.

Thanks for the input Gentlemen. I will add it in the comments section of the relevant posts, noting that it is a created cover so there will be full disclosure.
Thanks again for your assistance.
