Pictures not allowed on site
-
Hi all
Concerning this question, there's something that I always found strange.1) The list of the banned studios (for pics) appear only if you got the Auto-Approval status, here :
http://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=3593.0Which means that all other users who spend time preparing pics will have them all rejected after their upload, which is a loss of time for both uploaders and Mods
Why don't you make this list visible to all members, so the situation would be clear to all members ?
One answer was (if I remember) : "we don't want to frighten new members and they won't be warned at all if they repeat this "mistake" , Mods know how to take charge of this issue".
Well, this answer isn't really satisfying, is it ?
How could a double process of carefully preparing pics by a member, then all pics deleted by a Mod, be satisfying ?2) If this list was visible to all, here is how torrents concerning these studios could be treated :
All members who upload a torrent concerning these studios should upload at least 1 separate pic in their torrent.
Only then, downloaders would have an idea of what they're gonna download (instead of starting googling for this movie) : the pic(s) would be downloaded first, and if they seem interesting, then only the movie would be downloaded.Uploading additional pic(s) in these "special" torrents is allowed on site, as stated in raphjd's post, which I have to partially paste here, as it's only visible to Auto-Approval members
"DO NOT post pictures from or of the following studios or their sub studios on our site {however, you may include these pictures inside a torrent}"Concerning this issue, here are some examples of "bad" and "good" prepared torrents (better name them "non descriptive" and "descriptive" torrents, when studio is the issue):
-
A non descriptive one : no pic within the torrent (it's not the member's fault because unfortunately he doesn't know anything concerning this issue) :
http://tracker.gaytorrent.ru/details.php?id=83244&filelist=1#filelist -
2 descriptive torrents from same member (thanks Brandon who indirectly made me think again of this issue, by indicating who was Tommy Gunn), both of them include additional pics within the torrents :
http://tracker.gaytorrent.ru/details.php?id=60750&filelist=1#filelist
http://tracker.gaytorrent.ru/details.php?id=65065&filelist=1#filelist
As you'll notice, this last poster got the auto-approval status (as shown in his profile) and he posted dozen and dozen of torrents. I only checked two of his torrents (i.e torrents where pics are banned on site) but I guess he does same in all his posts (especially he doesn't add pics in his torrents when the studio isn't banned)
To make it short : all members should do same as him :
- If non banned studios => pics in description page (GT mandatory rule)
- If banned studios (no pics on GT site) => pic(s) in torrent
Simple, isn't it ?
Have a great day -

When working on torrent approval, the pictures are often the only way to correctly identify the movie. Titles and descriptions are often misleading or not clear.

Hi Uwe
Mmm…this is something I never thought about : his pics helping you to identify the movie and approve his torrent.
But well, in case his pic(s) were enclosed in his torrent instead of being in the description page, it would mean you'd have to download them (all or partially, this shouln't take too much time) instead of accessing them directly from the description page ( also, he should be seeding for you to download them ;D )Let's say that actually, the time required for you to delete all his pics from the description page (in case you'll approve his torrent) + the time for you to upload the "no pics allowed" torrent would be the same as downloading the pics included from his torrent
And he, as an uploader, would have done a proper job, helping all downloaders to have a look at some pics before blindly downloading his torrent (it happened to me not downloading a few Catalina torrents because i needed to have a look at some pics, which weren't present because they're not allowed on description page, so I didn't blindy downloaded these movies. Of course, I could have googled...)
Another point could be this : Mods also control all uploads from Auto-Approval users (who are supposed to have uploaded the "no pics allowed" picture) . It sure would help you, from time to time, to find some pics in the torrent, in case you have a doubt. I've been told that even AA users do mistakes
-
Yes blackdid… You are correct with regards to AA users. Even AA users make mistakes every now and again because they're only human just like the rest of us. Human error is inevitable in most cases.

Hi Uwe
Mmm…this is something I never thought about : his pics helping you to identify the movie and approve his torrent. ...Me neither before having had asked a similar question when I wasn't Moderator yet

No that will make torrent approval much more inconvenient and longer as it is already. (You will have seen the rightful complaints about the long time it takes). Currently the viewing, deleting and adding of pictures and all other approval tasks are done by the web browser. If the picture is part of the torrent, we need to jongle with a torrent client and will depend on the seeder to upload the right shunk of the torrent. With uploaders not being connectible, that can be a long lasting to impossible task.
Lastly, another rule, making upload even more complicated as it is already. …
Note, that is my own personal opinion, other Staff members may think differently. I understand as well your thought, I was wondering myself about it, as said above, when not being yet a moderator.

Thx MrMazda & Uwe
Well, I already felt in my 1st post that things won't ever change, concerning this issue lol
But it's always nice to chat with you and to remind the AA members who read us, that it would great if all of them added some pics in their torrents, in case the studio is the issue (read before)
Now I would like to discuss with you about a more general subject, linked to what has already been written
(I'll ask this because I'm curious, that's all. If you think we shouldn't discuss about it openly, please feel free to delete all that follows)1) Some Studios are totally banned from the site, their list is here and visible by all :
http://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=3592.msg48791#msg48791
We'll refer to them as list #12) Some Studios have "only" their pics banned from the site, but you allow members to share their torrents. The list is visible only to AA users, here :
http://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=3593.msg11116#msg11116
We'll refer to them as list #2I can't really understand this list #2 (please correct me if I'm wrong)
Sure these studios in list #2 don't like their movies to be shared by anyone, and they don't want their pics to appear on any site without approbation. But as GT's tracker already allows members to share these torrents from list #2 , it means GT is already involved in allowing the share, even if the movies are not stocked on GT's computer but they're stocked on member's computers, right ?
So what would be the big deal if you allowed the pics from list #2 to be stocked on GT computer ?
Would it mean that GT would be in more trouble if pics from list #2 were stored on its computers, compared to the fact that the tracker already allows the torrents from list #2 to be shared on GT computer ?
That's the question I wanted to ask. I can't imagine what's so different between a tracker allowing these torrents files from list #2 to be shared (which indicates GT accepts these torrents), compared to the fact that pics from list #2 stored on GT computer would create a much bigger problem ???
-
@blackdid: According to one of my lawyers, the difference between having the content on the server or not is that with the laws where the server is based, they are not technically committing any illegal act as they are not storing the actual content on the tracker. As for the sharing portion, the user is responsible for the laws applicable to their physical location. In such cases, legally only users within the jurisdiction of the applicable laws and copyrights apply can be affected as they're the ones actually distributing the content. So the short version is, it's a legal precaution
-
Thanks for your reply, MrMazda
That's why I was confused.
I always thought that storing the torrents files on GT's tracker was as illegal as storing the media themselves (especially pics !) . Obviously (and gladly) I'm wrong seeing it that way. -
I agree with Uwe 100% on this matter.
If you're forced to view the image from the torrent, it will decrease efficiency on approving dramatically: download the file, open the file, select download location, deselect everything but the image components, hope and pray user will be seeding it, wait a load of minutes for him to actually start seeding it, then return to the usual procedure on the site… Sounds like hell
-
This may sound strange, but I remind every upload to read the small disclaimer on our home page and the full version it links to.
We don't know which kind of agreement the torrent uploader got with studios in the list #2, what our Administrators know is that these studios don't agree that GayTorrent.ru is hosting pictures for which these studios hold the copyright. This is my understanding.
-
IMHO the best way to find what pics are allowed and what ones are not is to just search for the studios name.
For example if you search for Falcon you will see there are plenty of pictures from that studio.
If you search for other studios you will find they have the no pics allowed pictures.
If you can't find a torrent from a certain studio then just PM an online mod. We are all more than glad to check.
-
You can also find out the hard way by getting a friendly (or depending on the mod and their mood that day, not so friendly) PM or system reminder >:D

In a position of authority, but so very easy to get along with his awesomeness... There's a few mods that I can think of on here like that.
