Is It Possible To Do Torrent Inventory And Future Filtering?
-
I know this sounds like an unusual request, but seeing as another gay torrent site did it years ago and it has worked really well over time, I thought I might ask….
Are there enough moderators and administrators here to do a torrent cleanse and uploading filter?
The more I go through the library here, the more I am realizing that many of the files are being uploaded multiple times at multiple dates. I completely understand uploading a file more than once if you are putting it in a collection, or even reuploading a file if at a different size / quality. What I don't understand is something like below.
Member A uploads torrent Massive Helix Collection
Member B uploads torrent My Helix Collection
Only for members downloading to realize that most of the files in Member B's torrent are already in Member A's bigger torrent.
Wouldn't it then make more sense to either just upload the files not included in the bigger torrent or merge the two file sets, upload it, and request that the smaller collection be removed?I'm also seeing a lot of reposting in multiple categories. Things along the lines of…
Member A uploads torrent Two Best Friends Get Dirty in the Twinks section
Member B uploads torrent Two Best Friends Get Dirty in the Bareback section just days / months later
Sometimes this material will also say things like "original upload date" when the old torrent is still active in the system.
Wouldn't to make more sense to tag both Twinks and Bareback sections in the original upload, and for no one to reupload, but instead reseed the original upload?Maybe have staff go through and see if multiples exist and make a decision on which to keep (highest seeding)?
Maybe have a filter where torrents need to be approved before hitting the site? You will get less torrents in numbers, but quality over quantity. -
I get what you say and I think its a valid request. However, the rules do prohibit reposting the same files that someone previously did and there's an option to report duplicate. The tricky thing is that sometimes the same file gets re-upped within a different collection and well, collections may share files in common but if there are also different files, then its a different collection. I think the effort should be put in clarifying or making rules to prevent that situation. As for the categories part, its understandable that people will upload the same vids in different ones because of personal preferences. But the option to suggest the proper categories for a torrent that you've downloaded does exist and even is rewarder with seed points.

It would be easier to simply ban collections. They have a lot of disadvantages that have been discussed here previously.
