      Hi Family,

I have been doing some testing as the site has been doing very "strange" things as of late, including running as slowly as dial up, and have come to an interesting conclusion. My tests have shown that 99.9% of the problems I've been having with the site were in fact an "illusion" created by Internet Explorer. When running the same type of tests using Firefox (among other browsers) instead, the problems all stop dead in their tracks.

For this reason I suggest creating some sort of a public posting advising users that users avoid the use of Internet Explorer on this site due to known compatibility issues. For possible legal reasons (such as solicitation issues in some countries), there would need to be more than one recommendation (e.g. Opera, Firefox, Google Chrome).

      Just a thought…

I always voted against M$ IE - the world wide best virus-distributer[nb]in this case it is not only M$'s fault - I know that IE is the the most searched aim for hackers, just: a shame that M$ does not pay enough attention for such attacks. One might guess their programmers get paid for  not necessary gimmicks instead for time (not to mention: paid for security![/nb]!

I can just recommend Opera - I use Opera (currently V 11) since V 4. <something>and was never disappointed with that browser. BTW: Opera is (for me) the only known Browser which is completely compliant with HTML 4 and XHTML with the recommendations from W3C.</something>

I have actually gone so far as to surgically remove Internet Explorer and all its trace components from my computer. It no longer exists 🙂

hmmm - I wonder if that is really possible at all. I know (though some years ago) it was necessary to have IE installed because some API functions in Winblows needed DLLs from IE. Might be (hopefully) that the sentence of the European court[nb]I'm not really sure but IIRC M$ was sentenced to a fine of > 1 billion $[/nb] was a reason too to stop such nonsense. I just don't know how long such a "healing(?) shock" will last or if they retry the same game with the .NET framework (which I hate btw - it makes my computer really painfully slow 😞 )

Sadly the idiots at work make it so we have to use IE for many things.

Even banking can be a PITA if you use something other than IE.
