Well, essentially, a straight-married news anchor was engaging in a Grindr tryst, and died in a hotel room due to a crystal meth overdose delivered anally.

      https://www.queerty.com/people-divided-whether-lurid-details-married-news-anchors-death-made-public-20190225

The Queerty article does a decent job of presenting two arguments:

      – it's too much information considering the impact on his family and workplace,

      or...

--  it's fair game in our modern-day news cycle, or useful as a cautionary tale.

What are your thoughts about the way the news anchor's death was reported?

The question of news vs gossip.

I have little interest in this type of story.  It reduces a person's life to an embarrassing death.  I'd support not running it.

But i can see the slippery slope if we censor things we find shameful.  I remember how far we had gotten into the AIDS epidemic before we started talking truthfully about it.

If it were a private person, then I would say it's off limits.

As a public figure, I have less concern.

As a news anchor, he probably had no problem telling these stories about others, so I have even less problem.
