Hostile behavior
-
Hey guys,
I've noticed a lot of hostility and an excess of unnecessary irony on comments all over the sections of this forum.
Isn't here supposed to be a group of people sharing porn and related infos? The main thing I can see here is large egos.
-
Part of the problem is users getting frustrated with forum spammers for seed bonus points, people frequently posting in the wrong sections, etc.
Another "problem" is that due to the global nature of the site, there's a lot of differences in the manner of speech. Countries like Germany have a very matter of fact way of speaking, while others have a very flowery way of speaking. There's no offense meant, it's just what it is. People don't stop and think about it but react based on how they would speak, not how the other person might speak.

All right, I can understand it, in part.
The thing is I imagine education should have more Western standard values, we're the same civilization. I guess we're dealing almost 100% with Western World Countries. But, that's just my opinion.
Thanks anyway for your kindness!

The problem isn't always education. A lot of it is because of belief systems. Beliefs have become more important than the truth. The other thing is, gay men in particular have a way of being really fucked up towards each other, and often find ways to justify it, and make YOU the cause of a problem. Of course, not all of us are that way, but I've seen enough to where many of us acknowledge that this behavior exist in our community; regardless of where you are in the world. We've just become unkind.

I think you got the point. Unkind is the best word to describe such behaviors.
And we can't simply blame those who are unkind to us, it makes the cause/effect relation shallow. Thanks for your elucidation!

I agree man , but not the comments in these sections piss me off, but the once directly commented on a torrent. People really need to chill and the disrespect on some of the torrents comments is really discusting. Sometimes i believe the mods / devs would check more and then just time out people for like 24 hours for the extremly toxic comments. I know im aware thats never gonne happen because they actually have a live of their own and there are way to many torrents to check them all and keep them updated. I already really avoid reading the comments .

If we really analize the world today, disgusting and nonsense comments are widespread over all types od websites, particularlly in news media.
But the difference is that the range of different kinds of people who comment at BBC or the NY Times section is way too wide. Of course we cannot stereotype all gay men like if we all were the same, bu there are things that bond us in specific interests and problems as well. Thus, I think we should be more kind to each other, as said above in this very topic.Btw, I also avoid reading the torrents comments, but many of comments posted here are the same way unnecessary when it comes to rudeness and low quality excessive sarcasm.

Just for your information: if you see a not appropriate comment on a torrent, there is a small item "report". Click it and you have reported this comment to the staff, which will deal with inappropriate comments.
I don't have exact numbers, but I guess there are more than 100 comments each day. To control them all several team members would have to check each and every torrent for new comments. Only the uploader and other members who wrote a comment are notified about a new comment automatically. Long time ago we even had PMs for each and every forum post - luckily just for a few days

Oh, ok… That make sense I guess. Is it not possible to temporary ban such people? If all their doing is spamming the forums, obviously they're offering no value to the tracker.

Spammers get punished, but usually, they do their dirty work while only torrent staff are on.
Members are always encouraged to report abusive posts/torrent comments.

Some thoughts as a webmaster and administrator of my own community:
1. I absolutely agree with the above insight that what you perceive to be hostile or rude behavior may actually be cultural or personal differences. Some people may be very passive aggressive. Some people may be very direct. Some people may be having a bad day, and want to take out their anger on you.
2. Forums allow another side of human nature to come out. In the physical world, there are limitations of what is socially acceptable because you get the consequences of it. For example, if you're rude in the real world, you can immediately see the shock, anger, and disgust in the other person's face and you will get immediate visual and verbal feedback. In online forums, you're anonymous so you may feel like you can "get away" with socially unacceptable behavior.
3. I personally write very direct comments on low-value or misleading torrents. There are torrents with bad or irrelevant screenshots, incorrect descriptions, misleading descriptions, or torrents that are 'stuffed' with extra material to get more download juice, etc. I'm not trying to be sarcastic, I'm trying to instill some accountability on the uploaders and to ensure the torrent system stays clean. It helps everyone if you properly disclose the torrent with accurate and truthful information.
4. Finally, there is a system of accountability for egregious behavior, which is the Report system. Use it. No staff can moderate everything in a large community, so the community needs to understand - and to be empowered - with the ability to report malicious or inaccurate information. You should use the Report system, which flags the content and brings it to the attention of a staff member. Just yesterday, I reported a torrent where the description was (and I'm not joking) "omg wow lol muscle".Joel

I totally agree, that aggravates the fuck out of me. And people like that should be dealt with immediately and swiftly, as they don't care about quality of content. Many people who do that (I believe) deceive people in order to get more upload credit, cause they're too fucking lazy to find original videos. This is one of the reasons I believe not everyone should have the privilege to upload. Unless a movie was a request, I don't think anybody should upload anything they didn't see themselves, that would prevent a whole lot of misinformation. And if you're too lazy to put the right information, or you're too lazy to watch it to help enter the correct information (in your own words), don't fucking upload it! That's my feeling. I am beside myself to realize these same kunklefuckers are grown adults that do this.

JoelYou know, I've seen many people complain about how mean some trackers are, and how "they don't recommend that you sign up." But, the truth of the matter is, there are a lot of users that are just plain fucked up too. So, it goes both ways. Trackers have to be strict, because of some of the assholes they sometimes take in. If someone can't follow instructions, then they need to stay the fuck out of private trackers. They know fucking well that every tracker has rules. If you don't like those rules; you have two choices, take it up the ass with no lube, or make a life with public trackers in stead!

We don't like to ban people unless it's absolutely needed.
If we can get them to change their habits, thats what we prefer.
