I got a re-seed request and now the guy isn't even seeding it!
-
So, I would've sent him a private message, but the little glitch in the system said I wasn't allowed to see his profile or contact him, but this really bugs me.
Yesterday, I got this message:User instantmsg has asked for a reseed on torrent:
Beautiful People - Season 2 (2009)!instantmsg is a User, has a ratio of 0.794, and a Seed-Bonus of 93.750
I downloaded this months ago, but I still had the files on another drive. So after figuring out how to re-seed (with the help of two nice members), I get it going and he gets the files quite speedily. Now, less than 24 hours later, I get ANOTHER re-seed request, so I look at the 'peers' list, and this guy (instantmsg) isn't even seeding the torrent anymore! Not to mention, he didn't even leave a Thank You!
I know there's no hard and fast 'rule' about this other than keeping your GENERAL ratio above a certain number, but there must be some sort of 'torrent code' about asking for a re-seed and then abandoning the torrent once you have it!
Am I over-reacting?

Hey friend
Sorry I'm jumping on your interesting post, though I'll sure answer to it in a future message.
After reading you, I just made a mess with the "request reseed" buttonI entered a dead torrent here :
http://tracker.gaytorrent.ru/details.php?id=86293As there were 0 seeders/ 0 leechers, I just wanted to "try" what would ask me the "request reseed" button, like a confirmation, or some info etc…
It didn't ask anything and wrote something like "Done : 4PM has been sent" !Then I realized there were 4 user names at the bottom of the screen, that snatched the DVD-R (it's in DVD-R categorie) so I guess those 4 users I PM them by mistake.
3 of 4 users i'm gonna PM them to cancel my "request reseed"
Unfortunately, the 4th one (user) has a private profile :cry2: :cry2:Please, any kind Mod to PM
user, asking him to cancel my "request reseed" concerning this "Burn.the.Bridges.torrent" (I choosed any torrent to try the "request reseed" button)btw, that would be great to have a confirmation when this button is clicked, it would avoid a misclick that could PM dozens of users same time
Now i'm gonna PM the 3 other users to cancel the reseed request
I'll come back later to answer you friend, thx
pm sent to "user" by cumeaternc and removed his name for his privacy.

Hey friends I'm back, after this "reseed request" has been fixed.
Thx Cumeaternc (Brandon) for your efficiencySo uwsguy102, maybe he's the same guy you were talking about 24h ago here :
http://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=12796.0If he's the same guy, as you wrote he didn't thank you after you reseed just for him yesterday, I would already have put him on ignore (that's why i'll never be a Mod as I don't have patience with this kind of missing basic politesse. I remember a few weeks ago when a user insulted our staff in the Forum and how they all reacted professionnaly, keeping their blood cold while answering, when mine was boiling as I read him)
Now you wrote : "so I look at the 'peers' list, and this guy (instantmsg) isn't even seeding the torrent anymore!"
But I would like to know something because I'm not used at all with this re-seeding thing : the torrent you reseed didn't appear in the main "Search Window" torrent ? Or did it appear ?Because if it was an old torrent he found during a search and if this torrent doesn't appear again in the "Search" torrent window with yesterday's date (you know, like those re-seeded torrents where we read this : "Staff information: Original added on…"), then why should he keep on seeding it if it's an old torrent with no leechers and very few seeders ? Noone will leech it after him.
Well maybe you think he should have seed it a few hours, just by courtesy ?
I think what's worse in this situation is the fact he didn't thank you, I don't like that at allWell it's just my personal thoughts and what I really enjoy when I answer to your messages, it's the fact that we can both express our thoughts in a honest discussion, because discussion is possible with you and I'm certainly not the only one here who enjoys reading your posts, they're always written in a constructive way, they're pleasant and full of happiness
hahaha he said

I think what's worse in this situation is the fact he didn't thank you, I don't like that at allYes, that's the torrent I was trying to figure out… and it appears right away if you search for 'Beautiful People' in the TV category, so it's not an ancient torrent. I guess you could make a point that if no one was seeding it to begin with, chances are few people would come after you ask for the re-seed, but as it so happens, two people asked for a re-seed less than a day later.
But I guess, yes, I was thinking of the basic courtesy of keeping something seeded for a period of time after you download it, even if it's an older torrent. On my initial download of anything, I keep it for a minimum of 24 hours, and if there's a ton of seeders left and I've seeded back over the minimum of 1:1 I will stop it. But if there's not many seeders, or it's an older torrent and the ratio is LESS than 1:1, I will keep it going sometimes for a week or so.
Maybe that's just me, though, and I'm over-reacting to this situation.

Please consider that not everyone has running his computer 24h a day (7 days a week and 52 weeks a year).
So it might be that instantmsg's computer is just not running …His global share ratio is good, so no "need" to seed even recent downloads. The user indicates to be in Australia and from different messages of Austrailian users I've deducted that they do NOT have flat rates for internet access and have a limited traffic per month or must expensive pay for more.
This said, it is unusual that a downloader doesn't seed back a while what he has downloaded ...
-
Thanks for the wise words, Uwe… I should think about all the factors before I run off the ledge! I guess I should be better at letting the 'little things' go, hahaha...
-
What about a simple "thank you" when you kindly re-seeded the movie just for him.
Did you receive it after nearly 36 hours ?…especially you accept all PM's and your privacy level is set to normal
-
No, but that's a 'little thing', and I'm letting it go, hahahahahaha…

Firstly thank you for your efforts to reseed this tv series for me uwsguy102.
It was going quite slow at first with one seeder and no other peers, but after doing the re-seed request and another peer came online in uTorrent the speed did indeed pick up nicely, and fast enough that I could prioritise the episodes and watch them in order as the subsequent ones downloaded.
I live off a laptop and as suggested by one of the other users it isn't on 24/7. I continued to let it seed for a few hours after it had completed, but there were no other users leeching at all and I shut down. [Internet access in Australia is lacking by standards in the world to confirm Uwe's comments]
Whilst my ratio may not be the best, it isn't bad and I am working to improve it. The last 30 torrents I have downloaded from here are still active in my uTorrent list and seeding away [although as I type this there are no leechers on any of those torrents]. So I don't intend to 'snatch and run' and do aim to contribute back by seeding back as much as possible.
I apologise for the frustration concerned and also for not thanking you individually uwsguy102 - I have thanked the original uploader but am unaware on how to send thanks to another peer, as until this forum thread was brought to my attention I was unaware as to which user was seeding for me. I will look up the help sections as to how you can thank other seeders.
I am seeding the torrent again now (again with no leechers), but FWIW I have not requested any other reseeds in recent times (or that I can remember past that) so the movie would have been someone else.
Thankyou, Sorry and Regards,
Sam. -
Sam- You know what… after reading through the post I realize I probably came off much harsher than I intended. Many times I'm either joking or just sort of 'griping' about nothing and if you just read the words on a computer screen you might think I'm an ass. (Well, actually I am an ass, but that's a different story.)
I'm glad I could help you out and all is good on my end. I need to stop putting my own standards on everyone else and just let it be, as the song goes!
Cheers!

I was so happy this morning - I left my laptop on overnight and when I woke up today discovered I was seeding away uploading this series to someone else
The torrent has become fairly active now looking at the torrent details page (5seeds, 2 leechers), wonder if this thread helped people discover it and have also downloaded it as a result, LOL
Nice profile pic btw

Nice! It's the Circle of Life… and I really do love this series. I was sad when they decided not to do a third one. The soundtrack is also really good.
I'm glad you like the pic. If I ever meet Ed Quinn, I'll let him know, hahaha
