What are your top three to ten news stories from 2017?
-
It's that time of the year, list time. If this takes off I list mine. I figure since we're from all over the planet these lists might vary quite a bit.
So, what were the top news stories this year for you or the place you live?
-
Perhaps our fine forum members are daunted by compiling a list, with all the existing holiday "to-do" lists and obligations.
I'll just start with one happy, and recent, news story. Aussie Aussie Aussie, Gay Gay Gay!

Based in Canada, here are my top stories of the year (most likely going to hold until the end of the month). No order since it's difficult enough to pick the top ten much less list them in order of importance.
-Jagmeet Singh becomes the first non-white/non-christian leader of a major Canadian party.
-the collapse of Sears which had been one of the major Canadian department stores while I was growing up.
-NAFTA is likely to end soon and Canada is beginning to prepare for it.
-The Caliphate AKA ISIL AKA Da`esh has failed as a state. Expect the war to continue over the status of Kurdistan and the rivalry between Saudi Arabia and Iran
-Something big that didn't happen. Brexit did not lead to the dissolution of the EU. An EU with Britain on the outside is the worst possible scenario for Britain.
-The Dominion of Canada celebrated its 150th birthday as a democratic state.
-The Native Peoples of Canada brought attention to the facts that the last 150 years have not been great for them but that they are making plans for the next 150.
-The different levels of the Canadian government are doing bizarre things about immigration.
-Reverend Brent Hawkes retires from his ministry at Metropolitan Community church of Toronto after 40 years. He is the one person most reponsible for changing canadian law to accept same-sex marriage.
-A still developing story is the Breaking Silence on Sexual Violence. So far most of the fall-out has been confined to men in the entertainment industry of the USA. It may be either a fad of 2017 or lead to real changes. -
1. Good GPA for my study
2. Having a good vacation with my friends
3. My favourite show come back -
1. Marriage equality in Australia.
2. Meteoric rise of Bitcoin
3. Game of Thrones

A follow up to a prediction I made in one of my top news stories.
Today, January 21 2018, the Turkish government invaded Syria - not to fight ISIS - but to fight Kurdish forces who are in theory their ally against ISIS. While the USA has been arming both the Turks and the Kurds it is undecided whether the USA will try to get Turkey to stop.
