        The US has always sided with Israel when it comes to the UN.  Only once did the US not vote, either way, to defend Israel in the UN.  Every other time the US voted in favor of Israel, no matter the topic or if it was a good vote or not.

        The thing I hate that, especially in the US, you can't talk about Israel without being called an anti-semite.

          Very few people are aware that both Jews and Palestinians are Semitic.

          =========
          I saw a disturbing commercial today.
          There are various commercials soliciting monthly donations - typically under $30 a month so they can say "pennies per day"
          These commercials include:
          Wounded Veterans
          St. Jude Children with cancer
          Starving children in the USA
          Starving children overseas
          Animal cruelty prevention
          …
          anyway, I saw a new one today...  Send $25 per month to buy boxes of food for Israel.  (I wasn't aware they were starving).  That didn't bother me too much.  Then they went on to say that each box would contain a message saying that this relief was coming from Jewish and Christian people.    I found that odd.  Why mention that in the first place.. and why exclude all other religions?  I just checked.. and 20% of Israel is muslim.  If anybody is starving in Israel, I bet it is the muslims, because they tend to have as many babies as possible from when the females are 12 years old to 60.

          I have a problem with most of these solicitations for money.  The Israel one I just mentioned is odd and disturbing.  Sending money for children with cancer sounds good.. but I'm quite sure that all the money donated in that way is insignificant compared to the astronomical costs of providing that care.  Starving children overseas?  Unless there is a temporary emergency famine, that doesn't make sense.  It's not food that is the problem, it is disease and corrupt governments.  Starving children in the USA?  WTF is that?  There are many programs to prevent that.  Wounded warriors?  Bless those guys who were wounded in defense of the USA.. however.. they get government benefits up the yin yang already.  The only one's not getting benefits are those dishonarably discharged such as:  guys who decided to abuse their power by killing, raping, or torturing people..  and those that have self-inflicted injuries to get out of completing their tour of duty  (this is EXTREMELY common!).    The money for animals solicitation also bothers me.. because it is misleading.  A lot of that money is used to round up strays, impound them, and euthanize them.

            Semitic refers to the language.

            Semite is someone who speaks the language.

            Hebrew, Arabic, Aramaic and many others are Semitic languages.

              Yes…  and i have wondered why people say "anti-semitic" when what they REALLY mean is "anti-israeli-jew".

                Jews took the phrase and made it only about them.
