Links and Code Tag
-
Hi all
We all know (or should know) that live links must not be used on GT, Tim's post explains it clearly here :
http://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=10948.msg47853#msg47853Links should be indicated in the 2 following ways :
hxxp://tracker.sextorrents.ru
orhttp://tracker.sextorrents.ru
(though http instead of hxxp would have been possible for that special url, as it's GT sister site)
Now what is bothering me is this : as you will see in the attached pic, my Opera Browser (used by mgr too) allows us to "Go to Web adress" directly from the Code Tag and it works !
I don't know if it's possible from other Browsers, but isn't it a problem for GT because the referrer will be sent if we select the url in the Code Tag, right click and "Go to web adress" directly from GT page ?
Or is it a known problem and url's in Code Tag are crypted in a special way ?
Only you Admins and Mods know
Hope it helps

Blackdid sugarcube,
In the example you provided us, this "coded" example starts with http: instead of hxxp:
CAN you get to a coded URL with Opera (which I do not use) to actually use this Opera feature?
Try this with ANY obfuscated link from http://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=11201.0 and let us all know in this post/thread.
Thank you in advance.Hugs,

Hey Tim is here
I"m not sure to have understood you perfectly (we don't use hxxp in Code Tag, do we ?) but the following tries will surely answer your question :-
All your obfuscated rapidshare links (http) or any http link found in your Code Tags on the Cartoon & Comics page (or in any GT page) can be activated with Opera within a GT page (as shown in the attached pic of my precedent message) and those web pages will open normally, replacing the web page I was in (so I guess the referrer will be sent each time and this is my concern)
-
Gladly, a selected hxxp link won't be opened with this Opera right click feature (it won't turn magically to http) and an error message will appear, for example "hxxp://www.wtule.net => The address type is unknown or unsupported"
If you want me to try something else, please let me know

Hi brother,
I am glad for you quick response.
The entire point is to avoid OUTSIDE sites from seeing in their server logs (referrers) that anyone ARRIVED from GT.ru by clicking a link here.
Your original example in this post INDEED started with http:// which is OK when pointing to any URL within or site or our sister sextorrents.ru site (for straight or bi stuff).
The REAL concern is if you can get DIRECTLY to an outside URL with your browser.
Keep us informed.
HUGE HUGS

HUGE HUGSThen the answer is yes, I can get directly to an outside URL with my browser Opera.
Probably mgr will confirm this tomorrow (he's on Opera too), if he does exactly what's in the attached pic found in my 1st message :- Select any http adress within a Code Tag
- Right click
- Go to Web adress…and yes, Opera goes to the Web adress
So, referrer problem or not ?
If the Code Tag adds a kind of "encryption" to hide the GT web page we're in, it won't be an issue at all.
If not...only you know guys !Hugssss

referrers shouldn't be sent this way {it works like copy-&-paste}. this effect is possible with other browsers too {FF uses plugins to attain it - regardless methods of obfuscation}.

Hello amice
You're right, referrer isn't sent with this right-clic feature, even on Opera
(I was able to test it on a referrer test site, with a couple of interesting results)Hugs

Hi family
I agree with our Mods for banning the use of the code tags, but I would even ask more.
Just today, I saw 2 posts with active links in the Forum (http://…)Of course Mods will certainly deactivate those links, maybe warn users who won't do it again (hopefully)
But well, there will always be newbies or people who forget to change the http to hxxp so the problem will still remain even without Code TagsMy suggestion is : would it be difficult to write a script that controls the Forum messages before they are posted and automatically refuses the message if the "http" string is found anywhere in the message (or if the link start with the "www" string, in case the user indicates an active link starting with www... which is really active too !)
The only remaining "http" (or "www") allowed would be those linked to gaytorrent or sextorrent (btw i notice Forum, tracker, bitbucket etc... have all gaytorrent.ru or sextorrent.ru in their url) , well guys you know those url's much better than me.
Sure this would bring some additional work for Mgr & Tom, but if you want a real peace of mind and NOT A SINGLE http link anymore in GT/ST, don't you think this could be a solution ?
Then users will be forced to write hxxp:// everywhere in the Forum, when they want to indicate an external url, because the "automatic post controller" will jump on them in case they wrote any http in their message and displays a horrible warning message while invalidating their post :
NO HTTP YOU LITTLE DEMON >:D :rtfm: :spank2: :cens: :crazy2:I had a dream...
Hugs everybody :hug2: -
LOL - I just had to search through my to-do lists to find that topic again. Alas it is not really simple - we could forbid the http:// textstring (or replace it with hxxp:// automatically - but this :cens: word list is unconditional and does not allow exemptions for our own servers - not taking in account that the automatic link function is a complex function (alas not even in a single place but distributed among a couple of different source files ) a first test two years ago convinced me that this function is not a good solution for our forum.
