Dancing in public anxiety
-
Well I was just posting this to see if anyone has any ideas to help me with my social anxiety issues relating to dancing :).
I love going out and I love music but I just can't get myself to dance, I feel like everyone will judge me and make fun of the way I move.
In the past I used to get drunk and dance but it's not something I want to keep doing.
For example I feel very stiff and uncomfortable when I have to dance like my body is just all tense, I just thought that it's not for me but every time I listen to music I feel the urge to dance, I'm just too afraid to actually do it in public :cry2:
I can't even tap my foot in public when I hear music lol that's how serious this is :crazy2:
Any advice would be appreciated -
The only advice is common sense: Get over it.
Truth is, no one cares. Sure, there might be some bitchy queens who dish while you're doing your thing but they'll dish if you're just standing around, too. Go out on the dance floor and move. It'd help if you took some dance classes and stretched before going out but in the end, it's all good so long as you're having a good time.

Taking different types of social dancing will help reduce your anxiety. Everyone feels silly when they are learning (say) Israeli Folk dance or introductory Salsa dancing or Lindy Hop. You'll also be so focused on learning how to do a move correctly that you won't be thinking about other people.

Have you heard about the game Just Dance? It may be a good starting point for you to get over your fear. Everyone looks silly while playing that game and because of that, nobody cares about how you look like. Also, the game itself is pretty fun.
