Current affiliate status

Hi
I'm a power user and have just posted my affiliate links in a couple of new places.
I'm getting some sign-ups but also i got a report of sign-ups being closed and a re-direct to buy an invite. What is the current status of my affiliate links - are they active because membership is open or i am a power user ? Why am i getting mixed reports ?
thanks for your T&T!

Hi, twinkerzzz,
The affiliate links program is up and running, no problem there.
However, if people had tried to just visit the site (rather than use your affiliate link, for some reason) then tried to sign up, they would have found that we are NOT in Open Membership, IE people can NOT just visit the site, and sign up.
The method of joining via use of an affiliate link, and the method of just Signing Up (which is currently impossible) are TWO different things.
By the way, there are quite a number of people who have used your affiliate link to sign up for multiple accounts, thus cheating the site…
Perhaps you could add the strong suggestion that if people are going to use your affiliate link to sign up, ask them PLEASE ONLY OPEN ONE ACCOUNT.
Thank you,
Pawpcorn

Hi thanks for the clarification.
Just to say i monitor all messages from those who sigh-up via my affiliate link and i previously suggested to mods that i report all suspected multiple account and the feedback was that it was both a useful idea and much appreciated.
I will endeavour to maintain the same vigilance with the new links.
thanks

YES, INDEED!!!!
Thanks for reminding me that you get notifications on the signups!!! :cheesy2:
Please keep THIS link to sending PMs directly to me, as I'm geared up for having the tools to detect and handle cheater accounts:

OK - I will indeed, until you state otherwise - as and when suspects are identified ! But pm me if you wish me to go back to reporting via the usual route for any reason, rather than auto-direct to yourself.

Right… there used to be two of us on the helpdesk with the tools to deal with members setting up duplicate accounts by cheating with the Affiliates Program... now there's pretty much just me (with the tools, manning the helpdesk), so I think best to write me directly, (rather than the helpdesk) when something looks fishy...
Thanks again,
