I like the show though have only seen bits and pieces of the series before capaldi got involved, so far seen every ep he has been in.
How ever I liked Matt Smith the most as the Doctor.
Also heard the new female sidekick of his is a lesbian irl

Sadly I haven't seen much of Capaldi's iteration as Doctor though and am a little saddened he won't be sticking around for the clean up of Moffat's mess. Long over due for the showrunner regeneration.

I really loved the series when David Tennant was the Doctor. I also enjoyed the whole run of Matt Smith.
Though I still follow Capaldi's Doctor- I find myself enjoying it less. Maybe because he plays it too serious. I realize that Tennant and Smith injected the role with a certain manic energy and humor which made the Doctor a more interesting character.I'm looking forward to the end of Series 10 to see what the new showrunner will do, and who the next Doctor will be.

I dont like it all. to me it looks so cheap. kinda like worse than SG1 which is now like 20 y old.

I enjoyed the new stuff when it started, I like it less since Moffat took over, the stories are weaker.
Still it is a bit of fun and Moffat is going so fingers crossed ;D

I think Moffat is getting too much undeserved negativity - mainly because he has overstayed and lost direction in the more recent seasons.
But I'll always consider him one of the best Showrunners- if only for adding some really awesome new villains and characters to the series: including the Weeping Angels, The Silence, the more threatening versions of the Daleks, as well as Riversong. :love: -
I'll admit it was me that started the "Hey hey ho ho Moffat's got to go" chant. I can also say without a doubt it's because he was stretched too thin with Who & Sherlock. To me there was far too much lazy recycling.
On the flip though: Blink is, in my opinion, the best episode of the new generation, big fan of The Girl In The Fireplace as well and if truth be told Matt Smith is likely my favourite Doctor which, come on, some props to Moffat for that.
I don't remember exactly when I soured on him, maybe Let's Kill Hitler, I do know it was full on hate by The Day Of The Doctor but I still think that was well done.
And come on, once Moffat is gone can Gatiss be far behind? Then we could have a return of Captain Jack and who doesn't want to see that?

Moffat is a hack and the revival series is Eastenders in Space.
Doctor Who ended in 1989, and even that was giving it more than it deserved by the time it was over. Still, even there at the end it had some good ideas. But that's a story that was more than told by the time it finally stopped telling.
If nothing else, the series – one of my very favourites as a young person, and one of the few things I could find comfort in as my family moved house near-constantly -- has taught me not to wish for a series to be picked up after its cancellation. It is always better for something to leave you wanting more, than it is for something to come back and make you wish it hadn't.

I go on record as recognizing David Tennant's run as the Doctor as being the best. Donna Noble was the best companion, though Clara Oswald was amazing, too! It's nice to see some LGBT content coming into the show and dare I say that it may be time for a female Doctor Who - perhaps with a gay male companion. I would like to see a Doctor/companion dynamic that isn't a prolonged "will-they-won't-they" story line. Having them be very close, supportive mates (like the Doctor/Donna pairing) was just as, if not more, satisfying. But I suppose that's just a gay man talking and it wouldn't grab the ratings like the other formula.
PS - Glad to see Moffat go…the weeping angels were a super idea but became much too overused. I guess every show runner would be desperate to add his/her own brand of darlek/cyberman to the Doctor Who universe.

I'm the freak of the bunch - I prefer the original Dr. Who, and Tom Baker was my favorite Doctor. I still think the series would never have existed if not for the Quatermass series of films.

I want to watch the series but I dont know how to start watching it there are just so many seasons over the years older ones newer ones missing episodes its all too much can someone guide me how to start watching the series so that I dont miss anything please

I've been a fan as long as I remember.
I saw it originally in black and white with bad props but the story was always cool to me.
Personally I haven't enjoyed it with Peter Capaldi, but he is supposed to leave after this season. -

I recommend you start by watching the newer rebooted Series 1 from 2005. Here's a link to a great episode guide which will carry you all the way from Series 1 to 10. Then, if you feel like it, you can go further back to the original series. But for now, I recommend you start here.

I can't get into any of the "new" Doctor Who series at all. I can't get into much of any action/sci-fi/fantasy stuff from the 90's on. Everyone's dialog is written like that of comic book characters (fitting for comics and kids animated television, but generally insufferable in live action film and TV), and all the affected, snappy one-liners are interspersed with so much exaggerated soap opera melodrama. It's become an epidemic in modern fantasy/sci-fi (see: The CW, new Doctor Who, every single thing Joss Whedon touches, every single superhero movie made since the 90's, etc.)… I can't take it!
But I didn't come here just to bitch... I do like older Doctor Who series.

Interesting- but then again maybe it's just that Doctor Who has always been considered to be a children's series in the UK. So maybe they're just gearing it to a younger skewing audience from the get go, and that's something you've left behind.
Have you tried more serious kinds of genre shows? Off the top, I'd recommend Sense8, Stranger Things and The Expanse. Maybe those more serious shows will interest you. Definitely not CW material.

Those shows you mention are great too!
Doctor Who has it's followers just as many other series, though, I think it is one of the longest running series on TV.You can check out 2 spinoffs from Doctor Who as well, the best being Torchwood and the other Class.
There is a cartoon that was made for the younger crowd, I haven't seen it. -
Haven't watched Dr. Who much. Just few parts, but I did meet original Dr Who Tom Baker when he was signing autographs. Nice guy.
