Is your microwave spying on you?
-
Kellyanne Conway has suggested that Obama may have spied on Trump by hacking his microwave and turning it into a camera. I'm not really sure how that works. I would imagine you would need physical access to the microwave since the device doesn't contain camera hardware.
To be honest, I've been rather suspicious of my coffee maker for a while now. It's always giving me a funny look. Plus it makes terrible coffee.

my coffee machine seems ok.. stares warily at his wireless mouse lol

Why do liberals always forget Obama's election promises verses his actions. Despite his unconditional promise to end GWB mass surveillance, Obama extended it far beyond anything GWB could have dreamed of.
Obama got butt hurt at Snowden for whistleblowing, despite his promise to protect whistleblowers. Obama only got butt hurt because Snowden proved Obama was/is a liar.
Obama is a proven liar. So any denial from him means nothing.
As for the technology, I don't know how the microwave can be turned into a spying device, but I'm sure the CIA, NSA and many others have looked into it. Thanks to Snowden, we know that the government uses various things in our homes to spy on use.
-
Because for whatever reason, Obama will go down as some kind of messiah in the history books written by left wing people. I don't get it either.
I dislike Trump, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's right that Obama (or at least Obama's cronies) did surveillance. It sounds very much like what our government would do.
Besides, maybe rich people have cameras in their microwaves? I dunno. -
I'm a liberal but I could see Obama doing it…..probably not with a microwave but I can believe the idea that he may have been involved in spying on Trump. I honestly wish Trump would provide some proof instead of repeating Breitbart conspiracy theories.
-
My microwave can NOT be spying on me. I can't even get its damn door to open now. Hey. Maybe the new one will!

Trump cannot prove it.. that's the end of it.. but noone is asking him to, as usual, he can say anything and people will lap it up
Obama may well be a liar but denying something that that cannot be proven to be true is not automatically a lie.. it's like a bad case of gossip.. Trump just needs to provide proof.. or shutup

Here's a bit of history for you.
Harold Wilson (then UK PM) claimed that Russia was spying on him, because that is what MI5 told him. Later HW went on to claim that it was actually MI5 who was spying on him to ruin his government. MI5 denied all this and branded HW as a lunatic.
Fast forward 30 years and MI5 admitted that everything Harold Wilson said was in fact true.

and?
Trump provides proof.. world moves on.. very different world now

Maybe in 30 years the CIA, NSA or whoever will be honest and admit they did it.
You are clearly under the delusion that all conspiracy theories are either proven immediately or they are are fake. Thanks to Bill Clinton declassifying a ton of documents, we found out that a lot of decades old conspiracy theories were in fact true.
I'm not saying this is true, just pointing out that not all conspiracy theories are false.
-
If there was surveillance, they had reason enough to get a warrant…Russia, hacking, collusion...I mean come on. And by "they" I mean the intelligence organizations. So the fact that might have happened and might still be happening for some of those campaign officials is not beyond reason or scope of an investigation I am assuming is going on in secret--for the protection of democracy and the American sovereignty.

First of all, Trump has not provided any proof for this claim just like many of the other wild claims he has put forth that have been untrue. Trump has it in his full capacity to reveal the information that would validate his claims. It doesn't have to be to the people who do not have an appropriate clearance, but to our representatives appointed on our behalf. Trump has not done this. 2nd, the president hasn't had the power to enforce wiretapping for decades. People overestimate the power of the president. The Snowden backlash isn't about him whistle-blowing, it's how he did it. There are channels one takes that allows one to whistle blow and that protects whistleblowers. Snowden instead revealed methods and information to our enemies. This information is kept secret from US citizens by consequence in order to keep it away from those that can abuse this information. This cause great harm to the US you do not seem to understand. You'll never hear how many people died on duty due to his revelations and or how ISIS has used this information to their advantage. Revealing US capacities doesn't indicate infringement. If the CIA has the ability to put camera's in your microwave doesn't mean they're doing it to american citizens. It's like saying a cop with a gun just shoot anyone and everyone just because he has a gun. It's funny, with the information he put out, people skip over the boring stuff that actually protects us just for a feeling of indignation. Snowden had more premature and spurious reasons for releasing such information.

Sure! My microwave is totes spying on me. End snark. Dear fucking god, how did we get here.
-
Also, it ain't the machine. You just need better coffee :blind:

I saw an obese man do a back-flip once, I wouldn't go about assuming that all gymnast should just let themselves go and they will be just fine. 99% of conspiracy theories are false. To give them credence just because .1% of them maybe true would see us all wearing tin foil hats and shooting up pizza galleries trying to break up a Hillary child sex ring. The powers of the president gives him authority as an originating authority to observe and release such information if this were true. All originating authorities are directly appointed by the president so there is no reason he wouldn't be privy to shading dealings. The can adjust the declassification date of these documents or render information from these documents into a lower classification, to included unclassified. If you listen to any intelligence briefing concerning Snowden, it's mostly about methods rather than the information that is classified. Trump is full of it and that is why his press sec has been walking a lot of this back.

You know even Mark Zuckerberg puts tape over his camera and microphone on his devices? Or he just plain removes them.

It's very naive to think that the government does not spy on it's own people. I'm old enough to remember when people complained about the Patriot Act and government spying on people every day, and the excuse that was used was that "it was to prevent terrorism". Obama resigned Bush's patriot act and increased the scope of the surveillance. But as an ordinary citizen I would not worry about being spied on, I'm sure the government has more important things to listen for than what kind of porn you watch lol -
I disagree about spying. There is a case in Minnesota right now where law enforcement wants Google to provide them with information about people who searched for a certain persons name. This person had their identity stolen and then someone committed fraud using their identity. Now you could become a suspect in a crime just because you innocently googled a persons name. It's too much.

No, all this is Trumps Bullshit to deflect attention from his own illegal crap.
-
Eh if I had the technology I'd just survey using phone camera/laptop/webcams, designing a microwave to connect to the net to transmit while also capturing anything but an empty living room for 90% of the time seems pretty out there.
-
I too put tape over my camera's, but not so much to avoid my government that has laws against such surveillance. I do it because the US only has few direct allies. Every other country in the world and hacker is vying to access out computers.
