Saw headline re: SXSW and thought it was a reaction to Trump immigration mess

Somehow in my mind threatening to deport international artists seemed like a 'take it to the extreme' to highlight Trump inanity especially coming from a musical festival. When I read further and discovered it was more in line with "make 'merica great again" by following our rules I got a bit of a chill.
The CEO has since come out and tried to downplay any connection to current immigration policies and that they try to help international artists navigate issues at the border, even hiring attorneys. However, he ultimately concludes "We hope never to be put in the position to act on this."
So basically, come to SXSW by all means but perform anywhere else during the event and we will report you to authorities.
It gets harder and harder to watch from afar.

Yep. SXSW is a major INTERNATIONAL event, so 45's inept 'policies' are gonna be a major kink, much like they've been for certain sports. Not sure if I'm quite looking forward to SXSW this year as they are reopening a large venue that has otherwise been abandoned for the past few years, but it sits directly between me and the Convention Center. I hated it when Snoop Dog played there 3 years ago. A major aural headfuck.
