Rachel Dolezal is Broke and on Food Stamps

I assume she is coming forward with this information in the hopes that someone offers her a job. I hope she gets one. I don't think she did anything that bad. It's not like she was trying to hurt black people. She was helping them.

I agree, her intent wasn't to harm anyone in the black community. It's sad how a lot of black people put her through all that mess over her wanting to be a part of black culture. I understand why some were upset initially but it wasn't like she was saying every black person is the exact same therefore she wanted to be like every black person; that wasn't what she was saying at all. She is her own self, an individual who strongly identified with the black experience. Some experiences in the black community are actually very universal. We're not very different beyond skin color. The strong backlash from the black community directly cost her very real opportunities, and it's wrong. She could change her name and return to her look before she made the changes and live life as a white woman who doesn't identify with black culture but then she would be uncomfortable because that's not who she is. It's just so wrong how people treated her in my opinion.
-
I've never really been a member of any organized group but if some straight guy was going around talking like a queen and running a pro-gay organization I don't think I would be upset about it. As long as his values and goals align with mine I don't see what the problem is. Every minority group should take all the help they can get from anyone whos is qualified to give it.

How does a lily white blonde girl identify as a black person? If you listen to race baiter and sexist Francesca Ramsey from MTV Decoded, Rachel was the most privileged type of white girl.
It is odd though, that Rachel has been completely shut out while Talcum X steals an Oprah scholarship for black males and TYT hire him while maintaining the lie that he's black. Talcum X also sued Moorehouse College for not letting him in as a white person and lost. I guess this is why he decided to pretend to be black.

She identified with black culture more than being an actual black person. Granted I wasn't a fan of her whole "trans-racial" thing, but I understood where she was coming from. You don't have to be black to realize black people and white people often have the same struggles and can therefore relate to one another. How many times have you worried about a utility bill or mortgage payment? How many times have you or someone you know had to skip a meal or two because they have children and put the needs of their children before their own? These are not black problems or white problems, these are simply problems. Financial struggles know no race. Many economic opportunity barriers effect white people just as much as they effect everyone else. Yes, we do have differences and not everyone is treated fairly, but a lot of our struggles are universal and often times are connected.
I believe Rachel faced barriers as a white woman and she realized that her struggles mirrored the struggles of black women, and she wanted–-in her own way---to show that she wants to help find solutions to those struggles; hence why she worked for the NAACP. I wish more people would have seen it from that perspective instead of bashing her the way they did. Black people were especially mean to her, including people in my personal life.

Facing universal issues, such as heat or eat (a non-racial issue that many face in colder climates), doesn't make a normal person want to be "trans-racial".
What "barrier" did she face? The eduction system was feminized in the early 1970s to help improve girls' learning. This is why there was a total flip in the grades between boys and girls. This happened across the western world.
Women, despite the education bias, have Affirmative Action to help them get into college. This is despite the fact that over 2/3rd college students are women. If AA had an honest purpose, it would be used to help even out the situation.
If she's in a domestic violence situation, the western world will arrest the male regardless due to the west using, officially or unofficially, the Duluth model of DV.
As far as work goes, there's plenty of male dominance in the dirty jobs. She could fight the good fight and make sure men don't dominate the street sweeping and trash collection industries.
I do have to give her credit though, as least she didn't steal a scholarship like Talcum X did.

Okay I have to ask, do you have some kind of vendetta against women? Seriously, all you do is trash anything and everything that has to do with a woman, no matter what the woman's ideals are. There are women who go through struggles that have absolutely nothing to do with any of the feminism stuff you hate so much. What about serious medical problems that are unique to women? Some women can't have children and it effects them psychologically. Who are you to demean them and constantly nitpick radical examples of feminism to discredit the hardships of all women? It's very disturbing that you do that. Do you have a mother or sister or aunts? I'm sure you wouldn't want someone discrediting their experiences just because they're women and feminism is a thing.
Back to the point I was making, it's not about her wanting to be "trans-racial" to me, that part I do not agree with. What I'm saying is we are more alike than we are different. Only racists believe people are genetically bad or good because of their race. I believe the reason why you're having such a hard time believing that she's genuine is because you dismiss the reality of black culture or you see it as something racist, when it's really just the black experience–-good, bad and in between---in this country. Black culture in America is unique but a lot of our issues truly are similar to issues white people typically have. When people don't get hung up on attributing characteristics to an entire race, they realize that fact and decide to work in connection with those who do not look like them but share the same struggles. Yes, a white woman from a well-off white family can actually have similar if not the same struggles as a black woman living in poverty. White privilege does not apply to every single aspect of life. I remember you saying on here that your partner couldn't get a visa due to the illegal immigration here and as a result, you're stuck in the UK. Do you honestly think no one else of a different race has that exact same problem? I feel like you're trying to make it seem as if that's impossible. That's just not the reality. You can't honestly believe that people of different races can't relate to one another.
Rachel did go too far with the changing of her appearance and all of that, but she did not deserve the hatred she received. Maybe she needed some counseling to help her understand you can relate to people without becoming exactly like those people. However, I can't dismiss her for wanting to be a part of black culture because she wasn't appropriating due to her being a member of the NAACP and helping black people gain opportunities that they normally get excluded from. I've been in situations where I was having a problem with something and a white person was having a similar problem and when I find a solution, I make sure to help that person by telling them about the solution. I don't first stop and say, "Ew, they're white so I'm not going to do that. White people have done so much crap throughout history so I'd never help one." That doesn't mean I'd walk around in whiteface and change my identity lol. The only time I wouldn't help a white person is if that person does or says something highly ignorant and even then I may still help, especially if it's a life or death situation.

Clearly, you view gender equality as sexist. The women in my life know I'm adamant about equality.
What you call "black experience" isn't what all blacks face. Sean "Puffy" Combs (sp?) grew up in a better area and had more money than most white kids. My black friends grew up just as middle class as I did. They hate BLM and similar groups more than I do. They are the ones other blacks call "coons", "whitewashed" and other hate filled things.
White privilege doesn't exist when non-whites can freely, and in front of the police without fear of arrest, force white kids to walk through a creek to get to class. BLM and the other prove black and female privilege, while totally disproving white and male privilege.
Sorry, I think Rachel is a liar who got busted. BUT, as I said before she is nowhere near as bad as Talcum X.

No, I view you making every single issue dealing with women about "women hating men" as stupid. There are issues that women deal with that have nothing to do with men because, quite frankly, men don't have a pussy or ovaries or a uterus. You don't have the same hormonal makeup as a woman, so you have no idea what women can and can't relate to one another about.
Anyway, thank you for making my main point. I said the black experience is unique and that black culture is the experience good, bad and in between. I never said it was a monolithic experience. The experiences differ individually but collectively they form black culture. Condoleezza Rice and her experience is a part of black culture. Ben Carson being a renown surgeon and now being our U.S. Secretary of HUD and each and every one of his other experiences are a part of black culture, for better or worse. No, they did not make their advancements because they were black, but because they are brilliant at what they do. They've shown that given the right opportunities, black people can excel and go on to do great things, which is the opposite of what many racists believe. You also made my point by bringing up Sean Combs, he did indeed grow up with better opportunities but that did nothing to stop him from being wrongly profiled by police in New York City as a young man. Colin Powell was also racially profiled by police numerous times. Are you denying their detailed experiences of racial profiling by police officers? I would only call a black person a coon if they agree with racists who openly deny opportunities to other black people. If a black person willingly denied or sat back and watched a white colleague deny a highly qualified black person for a position and give that position to a white person who has zero qualification for that position, that black person is a coon and complicit in racial bias. If a white person gives a black person an opportunity and that black person has zero qualifications; meanwhile, there was a white candidate for that position, I would call that white person immoral for manipulating the cause of affirmative action. The program should solely be in place to make sure QUALIFIED people who normally get looked over don't get looked over for people who have way less qualifications and/or experience than the person picked over them. Abuse in the system is a huge problem, but I myself have benefited from the system working the right way given I had way higher SAT scores and a much higher GPA than many of the white students I ended up getting into the same college with; like exponentially higher.
I don't know what you're trying to get at with that "white kids walking through a creek" situation, but you have used it approximately 25 times on here and it's further proof that you attribute one incident to an entire race of people. When I talk about racism and for example its role in denying black people the right to vote, I never say all white people did this because that would be wholly inaccurate. It wasn't even a majority of white people who did that because not every white person had the position to deny giving a ballot to a black voter, only those in positions to do that. Beyond that, it was mainly an issue in the South so that makes the number even smaller. Still, it was significant enough to cause lynchings, beatings and a whole host of other bad things during that time period. Why do you attribute isolated incidents to an entire population of people unless you're talking about black people who view other blacks exactly the way you do?
Rachel did lie but only to hide from the complication of race in this country. Something in her personal life got her to that point, and she related to black culture for a reason. My belief is that she truly did it because she deeply compared her struggles as a white woman to the struggles of black people or more specifically black women. If I were living in Brazil right now because I couldn't come back to the U.S. because I was in love with a Brazilian man who couldn't get legal U.S. citizenship status due to illegal immigration and the problems it has caused, I would be in a similar situation to you and I'd hope you would be able to say "I can relate to that," and that you'd offer me some words of advice. Sorry you're in that situation, by the way.

I saw this on a job posting today. As a white guy it pisses me off….
"An Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. Females, minorities, veterans, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply."

That doesn't mean they are held to equal standards … The word opportunity does not mean guarantee. Also, most companies say something along those lines... Are you looking for a job? I mean the poster boy for scam artists is president, you should just go take Jordan Belfort's course on sales and become an life insurance broker for wealthy people or something... They got rid of the provision in Dodd Frank that prevents stock brokers from scamming old people out of their retirements. Be realistic, if you don't do it, somebody else will.

THANK YOU! Like I can't yell this loud enough! Opportunity means just that, opportunity. What is so wrong about offering opportunities to people who usually do not get them? This is so frustrating. If you were a fish and someone took you out of the water because you were a certain color or size or gender, meanwhile the "preferred" fish got to live; wouldn't you want to be placed back into the water before you die? If they told you there was an opportunity you could take advantage of to get back into the water, would you not take it? If you do somehow get back into the water, would you not fight for ALL fish to never experience what you've experienced? It is a very silly example, but it does somewhat illustrates the issue. Why is this so hard to understand for so many?

I am looking for a job. I know that it doesn't guarantee anyone anything but I just picture HR departments putting the resumes of guys with names like mine all the way to the bottom because they have a quota to meet with some minority group. This is part of the reason why people like Dolezal do things like that. She saw a greater opportunity because people thought she was black. I think we can all agree she would NOT have had that job if the people who hired her knew she was white.

Having female body parts does not justify women having special rights over men. Especially when they are screaming for gender equality.
White people are racially profiled too. Try being white and going into certain areas and see how fast the police pull you over and search you. Whites are profiled for meth. People are always profiled based on various things.
AA allows blacks regardless of background to do worse than other races and still get into college before them.
Of course people of all types share human experiences.
-
I use the "white people go around" incident to show black privilege. There are many, many other examples, like the Bernie Sanders' rally. Countless events have been hijacked by blacks, like Pride events and the Orlando vigil.
The police would not have just stood by fingering themselves if a bunch of whites blocked the bridge and forced non-whites to walk through the creek. That would have been shut down right away.

After this response, I'm no longer replying to you like this because I don't think you're capable of basic reading comprehension at this point. I tried having a logical, sound argument with you and each time you've brought up unrelated things which leads me to the conclusion you're either an irrational person with a serious chip on his shoulder or simply someone who lacks basic reading comprehension. I NEVER SAID HAVING FEMALE BODY PARTS IS A REASON FOR WOMEN DESERVING SPECIAL RIGHTS OVER MEN. NONE OF THIS WAS EVEN ABOUT WOMEN HAVING SPECIAL RIGHTS OVER MEN. I said women could simply relate to one another because some of their issues regarding the body parts that they have that we don't may be something they have in common and relate to one another over; not so they could gain special rights but so they could realize they have specific common struggles. How did you possibly misconstrue that point? Why are you stuck on this stupid men vs. women argument when that's not even close to the point I'm making in this thread?
WHAT ABOUT THE MANY BLACK PEOPLE WHO ARE HIGHLY QUALIFIED AND WERE ONLY ABLE TO SUCCEED BECAUSE OF AFFIRMATIVE ACTION? Are you suggesting that even someone like Condoleezza Rice was wrongly given admission into the University of Denver and/or the University of Notre Dame as if it were just to fill a quota and not because she was bright and deserved to be in those schools? I differ in opinion on a lot of issues with her I'm sure, but I would never question her intelligence or the legitimacy of her education. I'm not sure that she benefited from affirmative action, but if she did, isn't it excellent that she was able to become the extraordinary person she is today and not left behind because the system didn't see her potential? Going off of your argument, every single black person in America has some sort of intelligence shortcoming and absolutely needs affirmative action because they wouldn't gain an opportunity without it. Are you arguing that black people by nature are inferior to white people? If so, you'd be the dictionary example of a racist; something you accused me of being with absolutely no basis to substantiate the claim.
Lastly, you gave an example of classism when you said white people get profiled, too. White people are not profiled just for being white, that is a major lie and you could never even prove such a thing in America. You messed up when you said, "going into certain areas." That means they don't look like they can afford to belong in a certain place or appear in a way that more well-off whites or well-off people of color would find suspicious; therefore, they were profiled for possibly being of a lower socioeconomic class and most people tie being of a lower class to being a troublemaker or drug user. And none of what you said has anything to do with wealthy men of color such as Sean Combs and Colin Powell being racially profiled. Black people are profiled by race and when profiled by black officers, it's usually a combination of race and class. You're once again trying to deny real instances of racism by deflecting the point with a weak and often times wholly irrelevant argument.
My next replies to you will be simple and 100% dismissal in nature, just like your weak replies to me. Here's an example:
Your arguments are weak because you constantly deviate from what this topic is about.

The reality is, that does occur here and there. But, not most HR departments.
If this is a serious concern to you, I suggest working on your self confidence. I realize the process is daunting but it's really important to be confident, communicate effectively, and don't seem desperate.
Let me shed some light on this: From the perspective of the HR department, their job massively blows, especially if they work for a big brand. A lot of pressure is on them to find the right people to fill the positions and they get completely bombed with resumes. So, when they find a person that fits, they might be "poker faced" during an interview or on the phone, but the reality is, it's their job to hire that person.
So, it's a highly ineffective filtration process. You have to take advantage of it's inefficiency by spamming out your resume and being persistent. If 50% of the people they hire are for the reason of "affirmative action" then that means the other 50% are hired because "it was the first resume in the pile where I was convinced the person was qualified." That's because, HR has to do their job…
Edit: I guess what I'm trying to say here is, you need to get the concept that the HR department is your enemy out of your head. They are most certainly your friends. You can't buy into that other crap because you're it's self defeating.
AA doesn't mean there are less jobs available to any one class, it just means it, in some cases, less effort is required for those people to get jobs. Also, the way the job market is today in the US: I suggest trying to actively get your resume out to 50 companies a day until your phone rings. If you have prepared to be interviewed, it won't take very long.
-
Rawr, I totally hear what you are saying. That particular AA statement was copied from a job posting from the state of MA. I do believe in many government organizations they do actively seek out minorities and my resume will go to the bottom of the pile to fill a quota.
I listened to the Boston Police commissioner on the radio the other day talk about the racial balance of the Boston police force. He made a comment about the city being 9% Asian but only 3% of the police force was Asian. He then stated it was this way because they simply didn't get enough candidates who wanted to be police but he certainly implied that an Asian would go to the top of the pile.
I'm not looking to be a cop but if I was I am immediately at a disadvantage because of the color of my skin.
It probably doesn't help that I can't climb a wall or shoot a gun either. lol
