HOW ABOUT BREXI AND TRUMP?
-
What do you think about the situatio in the world?
and in Russia with Putin?
-
I think it has gotten too polarized all over the world. People are resorting to feelings instead of facts, and there are so many fake news sources out there, it's almost impossible to get the facts straight.
Trump and Brexit are the result of all this fear and confusion. People are afraid of the refugees and anyone who is an outsider. They are more interested in closing their borders and shutting out everyone who isn't like them to protect themselves from possible harm, both real and imagined.
-
I agree that a lot of news is fake news.
But this also means that we don't really know if Brexit or the election of Trump were bad things.

UK voted (well most people in the UK voted) to leave the European Union. It was the mayority's will so Theresa May has to respect that. The funny thing I find is that all those separatists politicians didn't have the balls to take the mantle in this cumbersome process.
Trump is a sign of the polarization in the USA, it also shows how the Left failed to care for American society as a whole.
Regarding both topics, considering UK's circumstances, I'd rather have all those who oppose the country to have a trade agreement with USA just because Trump is a loudmouth, misogynistic and whatever asshole, to reconsider. UK will need many trade agreements and USA is just such a ripe market…America consumes and wastes like no other country.
That's the reason Mexico won't give up relationships with USA so easily...an increase of 25% exports to USA generates more income that a 50% increase in our exports with the rest of Latin America (yes, building trade agreements with other countries as a safety net is the ideal and most sensible thing to do, but the American market is just too voracious and good to just leave without trying)

Was only a few years ago that even Clinton was in favor of a border wall and Bernie Sanders seemed to talk a bit about how awful some of our trade agreements are. So I don't think Trump himself is an example of polarization in the country so much as the reaction to him.
Just talking about statistics like the 80% of women crossing the southern border illegally are raped at some point along their journey and stating famously "somebody's doing the raping", resulted in Trump getting labeled as a racist who was calling all Mexicans rapists. That's pretty fucked up.
There was also the famous tape that leaked where Trump talked about how when you're famous that women will let you even just grab them by the pussy, which the media then lambasted him for by saying he had been into molesting women against their will. That's fucked up too.
There was also the point where Trump suggested not allowing anti-semites into the country, which resulted in the Jewish anti-defamation league saying this was anti-semitic to want to ban anti-semites. Which is pretty fucked up but also kinda funny.
It's been pretty routine to just watch the media misrepresent people and facts for a long while now to help with bolstering their people's own personal politics or agendas. Which wouldn't even necessarily be that bad if people were more interested in seeing what the other side of these stories are, but they're often not. It's more comforting to just read stories that back up your own personal politics and make you feel more virtuous for having what positions you already have. It probably doesn't help that a lot of the more mainstream media was very adamantly liberal which could give those with similar politics the false belief that everyone must obviously be sharing their politics since that's all they saw in the media they consumed.

I know about Trump and all that. He's been in the newspapers everyday even in Mexico's.
Obviously, many people here don't like him due to his remarks on the Mexicans, but honestly, most of our population is easily swayed by politicians. LOL you should see Mèxico's political class, you would die on the spot. They made 2 protests regarding Trump…and the highlight of the event was the rivalry between the two groups doing it.
Trump is no saint, but I conced he knows how to keep the spotlight on himself at all times.
Truth is, people don't like immigrants because they come from a different background. Maybe it was easier long ago because all those cultural identities would end up in the proverbial melting pot and form something new, like the Classic American identity. Nowadays though, maybe as a counter to all the globalization, those identities refuse to melt with others and fight to be the main one.
Merkel really blew it when she allowed immigrants enmasse to enter Europe to reach Germany, and screw it again when she tried to make the other members of the EU take them in when she realized Germany couldn't handle such big numbers. Add to that the terrorist attacks that happened later in France and is no wonder separatist parties are becoming more influential.
Now, Brexit...while leaving the EU (well, as I undertand it, UK was never a true member of the UE like the countries in the mainland, it was a special case) might not be beneficial, the process was done according to law. If the government tried to balk away from it, that would be a kick in the teeth of Democracy. Is the goverment of the mayority after all, not of the unison. So all my good wishes to May, since she has some complicated shit to take care of. (And it wasn't even her idea - btw, Cameron is a pussy for not having the bollocks to undertake this process...hey, maybe that's the reason English people love women in power, like the Queen and Tatcher?)

Precisely.
What's happening in the West is a result of decades of politicians not listening to their constituents. People wouldn't become so extreme if politicians didn't turn everything into elitism, nepotism, corruption, born into power.
