The link is a timely tutorial  :bravo: especially for GT.ru members who have the never ending problem of maintaining their ratio.  🙂

Thank you! Will check and give it a go since it said that the port I'm using is "closed" on the IP address that my VPN connected to…

FWIW: I can start taking requests for more hardware specific port forwarding instructions that go into step by step detail. I just need to know what hardware people want to be supported so that I can get working on that.

The ratio gets increased whenever I reached certain level of download. Hard to maintain good ratio because most of my downloaded files are not being seeded back because only a few wanted the same torrent 😞

i will see to that because my upload speeds are really low; while i can dowload for up to 2 mbs per second, i can only upload 100 kbbs..

I used to use port forwarding back in the days of NNTP Usenet and when using my own computer as a server for a website I used to have.

I will try reactivating some brain cells and figure out port forwarding again and see how it affects torrents.

Can we update this tutorial? i assume people dont use utorrent that much anymore as its full of bloat and malware. i use qbittorrent, and i have access to my windows firewall and router settings, trying to unlock port 51413 for port sharing but whatever i do the port remains closed and my ratio is impossible to grow even though my HD is full of freeleach torrents that barely get up to 10% uploaded on this site.

                      The default port for torrent:
                      6881-6889
                      Protocol dependencies
TCP: Typically, BitTorrent uses TCP as its transport protocol. The well known TCP port for BitTorrent traffic is 6881-6889 (and 6969 for the tracker port).
