Does Trump's victory in the Presidental election worry you as an LGBT individua?
-
I do want to remark on the fact there seems to be a lot of short-term thinking in these posts.
Do you think gay civil rights in America is ONLY about same-sex marriage being legal?
The US Supreme Court said it will hear the case involving a trans student who wanted to use a restroom based on his gender orientation. North Carolina had passed a law against this. Does that not concern you?
Mississippi past a law making it legal for religious believers to openly and public discriminate against gay people – because of those believers' religious beliefs. VP-Elect Pence also had passed and signed into a law a similar "'Religious Liberty" law when he was governor of Indiana – until gay activists and local and national businesses yelled FOUL and it was repealed. A similar law was passed in Georgia but not signed into law by its governor because, again, activists and businesses PROTESTED. (That did NOT happen in Mississippi, because it's economy is so bad (Mississippi ONLY survives because so much federal money goes to it) there were NO major businesses there to object.)
Twenty-eight (28) states have NO LAWS that protect the basic civil rights of gay people – such as the right NOT to be deny housing or employment nor other such protections that American citizens have. Gay people are 2nd class citizens in over half of America's states.
In May of this year, the Republicans in Congress BLOCKED a measure that would have protected LGBT workers in businesses that had federal contracts. What do you think will happen when similar laws are passed by the Republican-controlled Congress and go to Republican President Trump to be signed into law or be vetoed?
If you voted Republican in the November 2016 election, you did vote AGAINST the civil rights of LGBT people in our United States of America.
Wake up.

Yes, obviously, there is an incredibly small minority of extremist, right-wing fringe voters who are racist, but they don't come near to representing the vast majority of poor who are voting for themselves, not against immigrants. They vote for border control because they feel abandoned by the system, not because they "hate" immigrants. Assuming all poor people are racist idiots is just as arrogant and clueless as [**assuming non-whites can't get ID's for voting [EDIT: inb4 "buuuhh! Faux News!" Would you feel better if I'd posted it from MSNBC?]. It's the typical soft classicism and racism of the privileged left that deems everyone "less" than them as helpless and weak idiots in need of their wisdom and stupid, narcissistic savior complexes, and who prefer to coddle and placate the disadvantaged than to actually help them. I grew up poor. Dirt-fucking-poor. I know what a trap the welfare system is, and how condescending the left is to its "underlings" (poor, disadvantaged people) based on personal experience.
Wisconsin, for one, would beg to differ with you. Voter turn-out went WAY down in Milwaukee County this election. Wonder why that might be? Perhaps the new voter ID laws? Care to guess what the predominant Milwaukee Co. demographic is? (Hint: poor and minority). Let's not kid ourselves that Voter ID laws were passed on some principled stand against (the non-existent problem of) voter fraud. It was specifically designed to depress the Democratic turnout. And it succeeded. So congrats, Republican assholes, mission accomplished!**](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrBxZGWCdgs#)

. . .:crap:
Keep yelling and you can keep fucking off!
Nobody tells how to vote, and your acting like a raving moron doesn't help sway my opinion of the :pleasant: "tolerant left." :pleasant::fight:

I didn't vote for him, but no. Not worried.
I am worried about the insane amount of bullying from the Hillary camp. They scream intolerance so loud to avoid people rightfully calling them intolerant. -
Some people won't believe that bad things can result from their choices until it actually happens. I remember the bad old days.and I can :blownose: read.the signs. Trump will roll back every thing we've won while the oblivious fools who voted for him hide their heads in the sand. The ones who paved the way for him will deserve what he does while the rest of us pay the price for their blindness.

Not worried. Not really sure why.

yes

Not too worried until they make an attempt to roll back hate crime laws. If Republicans pass legislation revoking the Matthew Shepard Act or any other protection that is in place to deter homophobes from killing people like us, then it would be time to worry. They're busy trying to get their tax cuts right now so no, there's no need to worry as an LGBT individual at this time. To be honest, I can't see them coming after us anymore given that the country has pretty much moved on.

That honestly sounds like sour grapes from a Hillary supporter.
What if he ends up doing good things? Not saying he will, I can't stand him, but if he does good things will you change tune or still have this attitude? -
I agree with RoyalCrown89, the country has moved on so I don't see Trump & Co. going after gays because no one cares about gay stuff anymore.
It doesn't matter if Trump does good or bad, the left will only ever view him as a Nazi.
Obama could go on live TV, rape and eat babies and the left will only ever view him as a saint.
