Whats going on with the tracker and ratio?
-
Ok, I've been a power user for many years. Currently 2.49TB uploaded. Over the last month my seeding seems to be ignored and now I have dropped to a ratio 0.950! I'm usually 1.2! As a test I've just put my own torrent up: https://www.gaytorrent.ru/details.php?returnto=%2Fmytorrents.php&id=b1169e9e7e6e105cbfbd55167df83cb42f133121da248eab
This has only seeded 2gb from me but if you look at the traffic its currently on 64gb! Please can someone who runs this site look at whats going on and fix it. Thanks. -
2 GB upload on a less than 1 GB file size is a good result. I myself achieve usually only 1.05 to 1.3 times the file size.
That is exactly how the torrent sharing works and its strength: each downloading peer (and later with completed their download) share what they already got with the other downloading peers and combine the available upload rates.

thanks popper but this has not been my experience until now. I've always re-seeded every torrent I download and have seen the tracker upload some torrents 20 - 30 times over which is why I've got such a huge upload and was a Power User. Something has changed in the last month and now I seem to be reseeding nothing despite being connected to the tracker 24/7?

You Profile shows that your internet access changed on the 23rd of September. You'll know better than us what changed.
I'd suggest you check there. First steps would be to ensure you torrent client got UPnP activated. Then shut it down, pull power of the modem/router, wait a minute, replug power. Wait until the LED show internet is running, then restart the computer and your torrent client.
All this to ensure portforwarding to work. (wrong forwarding will reduce the ability to seed quite hefty). -
I've looked into things and my port was forwarded ok and comes up on canyouseeme. I'm now running Bitorrent and Deluge at the same time. Still nothing is seeding!
here is an image from deluge. You can see theres nothing happening :cry2: -
In that picture, everything looks OK. Your Deluge is connected to the tracker, got peers (20 seeds, 1 downloading) and is uploading nothing. So you can't expect the tracker to register upload.
With 20 seeds, but 1 downloading peer, it can very well be, that the downloading client for what ever reason is downloading only from other seeds. Anyway, on that torrent, the only I see you seeding (?), there are only seeds, means no upload possible at the moment.
I guess you know, that upload and download is not going over the tracker, but is negotiated and done directly between the seeds and downloading peers.
There is one thing to mention, but it was always that way: your client changed its port the last 3 days 4 times.

Hi Popper yes it was me trying different ports but still nothing. All torrents are flatline not seeding at all. I tried a new one and it uploaded just over double the download then stopped and has not uploaded a kb since? I've checked ratio control in deluge is unlimted so I've no idea whats happening

Popper. I've today reset my router again. Set a static IP and forwarded a new fixed port. Attached is a screen grab from bitorrent. All torrents are from today. You'll see some are still downloading. The one highlighted downloaded fine and went into full seeding immedietly at over 1mb up to a ratio of 0.483 it then stopped dead and has seeded nothing since. This happened to another test torrent I did ealier in the week. Stopped at 0.48? All uploads are unrestricted? My client just isn't getting any requests from the tracker?
-
… My client just isn't getting any requests from the tracker?
Well, yes, because it isn't the tracker sending requests, but the downloading peers. So nobody gets requests from a tracker on any tracker.
I've looked into what you seed (multiple this time). All those which got downloading peers are multiple file torrents and the 3 I've looked into more details seem to have 'downloading' peers which have selected to download only a part of the files, e.g. not the pictures.
The one you mention got 10 seeds for one downloading peers, so downloading peers got multiple choices to download from.
As you mention 0.48 ratio to be when your upload stops…
There is a priority setting in BitTorrent (µTorrent), which by default is 0.50 ratio: Options > Preferences > Queuing > Seeding Goal (Default values) > Minimim ratio (%), you might want to set this to 100 i/o the out of box 50. -
Hi Popper. Just back in and left things running all day. I'd already set ratio to 1000%. It seems its woken back up again, no idea why. Still a bit hit and miss with most not seeding by a couple are on ratios of 2.5 and one is now 6.8 which at least shows things are working. Maybe its just the torrents I've been choosing that no-one else wanted but I've always downloaded the amatuer stuff so still not convinced. Anyway it seems to be improving so thanks for your help and fingers crossed I can get back to at least 1!
