The cost varies widely, but it is definitely more expensive than you think, unless you adopt after foster care.  That the foster care mostly pays for, but it depends on your state and you could have to have several experiences where you get attached and they find other family.

The costs run anywhere between 15k and 80k (or more in weird cases) with the average I think around 20-30; but there is a tax advantage to it and you in essence get about 13k back as long as you pay taxes (you use to get it back no matter what).  There are some amazing agencies etc that work with the gays 🙂

In the UK, adoption is free as long as you adopt a kid who's currently in foster care.    This is starting to change though.

Scotland has very limited adoption opportunities and is a horrible process.    We had a homophobic social worker write lies about us, but mainly me, so we were disqualified from adoption.  We appealed and won, but still couldn't adopt because they said we were tainted by the whole process and wouldn't work well with the council during the adoption process because we wouldn't fully trust them anymore.

Adoption expenses vary according to the route and country program, the agency or attorney used, and secondary expenses, such as travel.

With the exception of adopting a child via the U.S. public foster care system, it remains expensive to adopt in the U.S. or internationally.

Total costs range from almost nothing, if you adopt from U.S. foster care, to more than $50,000 from several international countries.

Of adoptions finalized in 2015 and 2016, international adoptions cost an average of $42,000; U.S. newborn adoptions cost an average of $37,000.

                😄

Yes it is. Depending on location.  Type.  There are costs involved across the board.  25,000 minimum all the way to 100,000. I have a Co worker who went to Russia to get there adopted child and cost $$$$$$
