Two Men Kissing
-
I thought these two sentences were very moving.
I must have been about twelve years old when I first saw a gay couple kissing. It was on the cover of the Boston Herald sometime in 1989, highlighting a story about a gay rights protest; the photo also showed a presumably straight man walking by in disgust. I remember thinking to myself at the time that seeing two men kissing was weird, but that they really must like each other. –DR Tucker

We kiss in a shadow
We hide from the moon
Our meetings are few
And over too soonWe speak in a whisper
Afraid to be heard
When people are near
We speak not a wordAlone in our secret
Together we sigh
For one smiling day to be freeTo kiss in the sunlight
And say to the sky
"Behold and believe what you see
Behold how my lover loves me"Yet there are christianist scum who have bought the great lie that not only is love itself a sin, but such lovers as these should die.

I am a mBeliever that Jesus The Christ is the Son of God and came to earth to be born as a man to teach the world that His salvation is based on unconditional love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 "Three things will last forever–faith, hope, and love--and the greatest of these is love."

I won't lie, if I were to kiss a guy in the street it would definitely raise a lot of attention. It might even provoke violence. It's happened before.
And my country is considered a very tolerant one..
Thousands of years of Abrahamic taboo will not break down easily, even in a highly secular country such as mine. People tend to think they are tolerant but their minds are still heavily influenced by theological propaganda, that much is certain.
That said, people are free to believe whatever they wish, personally. As long as it doesn't mean you use it for hate and oppression. Then you've got the wrong religion or you're just doing it horribly wrong. -
But people also react to straight couples kissing in the streets. Why would you want to make a public spectacle of yourself? Kissing in public is simply awkward and people do not appreciate it.
If you saw an ugly straight couple kissing, you would probably turn away as well. Or an attractive girl kissing a guy who might be considered handsome but you personally find revolting. Or how about seeing your brother kiss his girlfriend? Or your sister kiss her boyfriend? Or your parents?
Moral of the story: you shouldn't be kissing in public. ;D
