If I like hot pink, am I a stereotypical gay guy?
-
Why are certain colors considered gay when we have a rainbow flag? Does anyone know?
-
It might be the assumption that a colour is 'for girls' therefore if you wear it as a man you are gay.
-
I'd say if a guy loves hot pink then he is gay. But then I am also of the belief that every guy has gay tendencies in him. Society has created such a stigma towards gay sex that these tendencies are suppressed.
-
No. You're not.

Like Jack said above, certain colors are believed to be "for girls", others "for boys", hell I know colors that get associated with old people (seriously, one time an 8 year old said his favorite color was brown the teachers called him an old man for it (for some reason) and another student commented about it being the color of poop.).
All colors (and everything really) is associated with one thing or another and a lot of times those associations lead to beliefs like "if a guy likes pink then he's gay" or "kids should like bright colors only." Its best not to give a damn about it, especially because its a cultural thing that changes from country to country, city to city and, heck, household to household.
If someone gives you flack for liking hot pink as a guy just tell them part of being an adult is being a living definition of what adults like and an adult man can like hot pink if he wants, he's a freaking adult.
Also, from what I understand, the whole boy color/girl color thing, though prevalent throughout history, really got its jump start as a way for furniture and clothing companies to prevent parents from recycling old clothing from one child to another. So yeah, say you don't buy into bullcrap.

Well, the rainbow symbolizes diversity, so we use it to embrace being diverse (but beautifully united).
With regards to the color pink, what's interesting is that the Americas were supposedly responsible to spread the notion last century that it's a feminine color, when originally it wasn't… and apparently, it's supposed to be the opposite.
