What song are you currently listening to?
-
Currently listening to a 10-song YouTube compilation of "Famous Singers with ISOLATED Vocals."
Rihanna, Selena, Taylor, Ariana, Mariah, Queen Bey, etc. Some of these ladies slay, some may be having a bad session, and a few sound like AutoTune is their only salvation.

Taylor Swift - So it goes…

Various songs from Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares – the international, commercial name of the Bulgarian State Television Female Choir.
This sound entranced me in the 1990s and found international acclaim. You'll note similar music in the soundtrack of Ghost in the Shell and many, many other films. Tender vocals one moment, jarring the next, spiritual and eerie. Play in a dark room, with candles, smoking pot is optional.

AngelK… for the French, is Debbie Gibson to pop music as Jerry Lewis is to film comedy?
More important: When you listened to this song, were you wearing the black hat in the video, and singing and dancing in front of a mirror?
Always enjoy your choices!

Ah ah ah!!
Believe it or not, nobody knows Debbie Gibson in France!!
I am a huge fan of Tiffany and when I was a teenager, I read on magazines that Debbie Gibson was her "rival" in the charts. I hadn't been so much curious until Gibson released last year a 10-CD anthology box set… And, well, she has some great good tunes!!

Like the Weather – 10,000 Maniacs (1988)
Such a big song in university towns and alt radio, such a big video on early MTV, and yet only reached #68 on Billboard Hot 100. Go figure!

Just What I Always Wanted – Mari Wilson (1982)
Some called Mari a novelty act, others part of the "alt-glamour wave" or such. Listen to it twice and you'll never be rid of it, hopefully for the better. A top-10 hit in the UK; stateside, a heavy rotation on MTV, which was established the year prior.

Loved that song! It became so popular over here, it's really a shame it didn't reach higher in the charts.
In the spirit of this season of hearts, I'm listening to:

In a nod to our resident Aussie, bb72, I'm listening to Somebody That I Used To Know. Gotye Featuring Kimbra.
(Gotye is a Belgian-born Australian).
He appears to be naked in this music video, but in a tasteful, no-penis way:

An interesting choice for this season… A hymn to the one that got away. :blownose: Well, flozen, I'll see your version and raise you this version by my favorite Canadian indie alt rock group.
