Interracial marriage
-
If you are not attracted to another race, that does not make you racist. In fact the amount of interracial marriages is extremely low according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
According to this table no one really likes marrying outside of their race that much.
White Wife Black Wife Asian Wife Other Wife
White Husband 50,410,000 168,000 529,000 487,000
Black Husband 390,000 4,072,000 39,000 66,000
Asian Husband 219,000 9,000 2,855,000 28,000
Other Husband 488,000 18,000 37,000 268,000 -
According to the U.S Census no one must, "Really like," being gay either - if it requires that everyone be doing it.
You sound really, really, reallllllllly racist. Just own it, don't hide behind statistical justifications for a country you apparently don't even live in. ::) -
What about the people who have not yet married? What about the many (possibly a majority) of those who married someone of the same race who would hypothetically be open to dating and marrying inter-racially if they did not meet their current spouse? I'd marry a man or a woman of any race if we both had a loving relationship and mutual attraction.

Well there are 316,000,000 people in the U.S. slice off 11,700,000 illegal immigrants = 304,300,000 * 76.7% over the age of 18 equals 227,032,000
120,166,000 / 227,032,000 = 52.9%. White people are also the most likely to marry interracially. 2,281,000/52,691,000 = 4.3%. Even if someone would hypothetically marry someone in a different race, hypothetical doesn't matter. Would you like someone to give money hypothetically or for real.50,410,0002 = 100,820,000
390,0002 = 780,000
719,0002 = 1,438,000
488,0002 = 976,000
168,0002 = 336,000
4,072,0002 = 8,144,000
9,0002 = 18,000
18,0002 = 36,000
529,0002 = 1,058,000
39,0002 = 78,000
2,855,0002 = 5,710,000
37,0002 = 74,000
487,0002 = 974,000
66,0002 = 132,000
28,0002 = 56,000
268,0002 = 536,000
60,083,000*2 = 120,166,000 married peoplehttp://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/00000.html

Racist people are not attracted to other races, hence the name. That would be oxymoronic.

That is so gallingly untrue. Slave owners often fetishized their slaves. Many slave owners raped, and abused, their slaves. Your obliviousness to the history of racism, and your second post with more statistics that attempt to prove your point only, truly, prove a dark fact about yourself.
Furthermore, the U.S Census has admitted it is inherently flawed. What box does the child of a mixed race, (IE: White parent, and black parent,) select? Also, on that same census Egyptian/Middle Eastern people are actually put into the white category even though they most definitely would not identify or be treated as white by the average American.
You're using statistics to try and justifying something about yourself that is fundamentally not okay - and the fact that as a gay person you don't see how evil, and fucked up that is, to me… is completing breathtaking.
-
If that works for you. I certainly do not "fetishize" people who are not attractive to me. :puke:
-
I'm sorry, but it's completely natural to "stick to your own".
Studies have shown that it's easier for us to recognize people of our own race easier than of other races. That's not racism, that's biology.

Studies have shown that people have a hard time discerning between people of a race they do not belong to. Which is a theme used in charming racist jokes such as, "All asians look the same."
These studies were mostly framed around the fact that eye witness accounts of crimes, identifying black males as the culprits, could not be trusted because the average white American could not tell two black people apart.
This is not a biological fact. Someones inability to discern between a Chinese person and a Japanese person, or a Jamaican and a Somalian is not something that is an inherent biological fact about human beings. It is a sad reality of the racist world we live in.
I don't think any of this really requires any debate. Nordicblue's puking emoticon pretty much says everything anyone would ever need to know about people who have any doubts about the nature of this thread.
-
It's not just white Americans that can't tell the difference in others. Other races and nationalities are in the same boat.
I don't see his puking emoticon as being racist. I see it as him saying he shouldn't have to be attracted to people he is not. Why should everyone be artificially attracted to people they aren't, so that others don't get upset?!
As I said in another thread about "no fats or fems", if I had to deal with Nathan Lane's character in THE BIRDCAGE full time, one of us would be dead in less than a week.
What you and others suggest is that since I'm not a phone person, I have to become a cold call phone salesperson and love my job to show I'm not a phone-ist.

Why should it matter who I am attracted to? Propinquity is the propensity to date or have relationships with people who live near you. Cities that are not huge like London or Los Angeles tend towards having a single race in them. Thus, you are more likely to date your neighbor than someon who lives 30 km away you, increasing your odds of dating your own races. Minorities tend to live in bigger cities. People tend to cluster with their own kind. Unless you live in a big city like Los Angeles or New York or London, you are less likely to have more diversity.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PropinquityIn social psychology, propinquity (from Latin propinquitas, "nearness") is one of the main factors leading to interpersonal attraction. It refers to the physical or psychological proximity between people. Propinquity can mean physical proximity, a kinship between people, or a similarity in nature between things ("like-attracts-like"). Two people living on the same floor of a building, for example, have a higher propinquity than those living on different floors, just as two people with similar political beliefs possess a higher propinquity than those whose beliefs strongly differ. Propinquity is also one of the factors, set out by Jeremy Bentham, used to measure the amount of (utilitarian) pleasure in a method known as felicific calculus.

thats interesting

Racist people are not attracted to other races, hence the name. That would be oxymoronic.
Being a racist and being attracted to another person is two highly different things. You can be attracted to someone and still think that since they are a different race you are better than them.

That is so paradoxical. I find people that I don't like, unattractive and people that I like, attractive. It is that very reason that makes them unattractive or attractive. Why would you be attracted to someone you don't like? You don't have to like my preferences but I prefer blue-eyed dark haired peachy compected guys with facial features dominant from northern Europe. Who wouldn't want Thor? As I said, likeness attracts likeness.

Not at all. If seems you are confused. Being a racist doesn't mean you don't like the other person. It doesn't mean you can't find them attractive. It just means you think another race is inferior to another race.
-
Sorry, dude. Being racist absolutely means you don't like that race. No matter how many you restate it, I am not going change what I think is attractive. I neither "fetishize" or "fantasize" about other races. I like what I like. I will say it again. I like blue-eyed dark haired northern Europeans. Trust me when I say that I am not alone in this. It sounds like you are trying to convince yourself more than me. Finding friends and acquaintances is one thing, but when looking for a partner, I prefer a Germanic appearance. Stop worrying about why I like Germanic appearances only, there are plenty of fish in the sea. I don't know what inferiority complex you are going on about. I have Persian friends, and Japanese friends but I would never date them because they are not good-looking to me. If you are associating looks with inferiority and superiority, that is your issue. For me, being unattractive doesn't make someone inferior, it just means you don't think they are good-looking. This has been an amusing digression, but back to the original topic. I posted in the beginning that white people were much more likely to be in an interracial marriage than any other race.
