Does the Bible condemn being gay?
-
In a word, no. When someone says that the Bible condemns “homosexuality,” what they usually mean to say is that the Bible condemns homosexual behavior. (Not everyone agrees, however; see the next question.) Remember, “being gay” doesn’t mean that someone is sexually active.
The Bible condemns some types of sexual behavior, and it condemns lust of any sort (whether heterosexual or homosexual). But nowhere does the Bible discuss same-sex attractions or how to live as a Christian if you have gay feelings. These are subjects on which we must seek God’s heart through prayer and the guidance that we do have in Scripture.

It does. But I don't care. I'm not christian. For me the Bible is but a fairy tale.

I think that is extremely well put. :true:
-
I think the question is a bit wrongly worded.
Does the bible condemn BEING gay? NO! you can be gay and not have sex or have a partner ever and bible is fine with that.Does the bible condemn homosexuality? Yes! Homosexual acts are condemned and punishable by stoning to death.
Homosexuality is a naturally occurring phenomena of the animal kingdom, Bible is a bad fiction made up by people in power at the time, and most of what is in the bible is proven to be wrong today.
So when they say Gay - Christian (they mean) = Hypocrite. Usually Christians just pick and chose nice bits from the bible to suit their needs and that's how it goes.
So if you're an honest person, bible doesn't matter -
two wrongs don't make a right and all that, I like raphjd's picture "be the person your dog thinks you are". They may be mean spirited so don't behave like them. Besides that's an ad hominem argument i.e., attacking the person instead of the argument.
-
Judging by thumbs down, I would say people do think two wrongs make a right. :police:

That's 100% Biblically true. A perfect biblical explanation!!!

Proverbs 18:22
He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.
¡Bendita sea tu fuente!
¡Goza con la esposa de tu juventud!
19 Es una gacela amorosa,
es una cervatilla encantadora.Proverbs 20:6-7
Many a man claims to have unfailing love, but a faithful man who can find? The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him.
Son muchos los que proclaman su lealtad,
¿pero quién puede hallar a alguien digno de confianza?7 Justo es quien lleva una vida sin tacha;
¡dichosos los hijos que sigan su ejemploDeuteronomy 24:5
If a man has recently married, he must not be sent to war or have any other duty laid on him. For one year he is to be free to stay at home and bring happiness to the wife he has married.
Matthew 19:4-6
"Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh' ? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."Colossians 3:18-19
Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
Hebrews 13:4-7
Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.
«Nunca te dejaré;
Mark 10:6-9
"But at the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female.' 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."
Ephesians 5:22-33
Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church– for we are members of his body. "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." This is a profound mystery--but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
Actually does anyone actually here has most of the compiled scriptures that make the bible in their original dialect and can read it fluently? See the book most people have has been translated and revisioned so you are basicly reading what some might have interpreted instead of what was wrote… other thing is mostly people go to the "you shall not lie with a man the same you'd with a woman" I'd have issues with that since gay sex is not the same as stright one so you do not lie the same way so it would not be a sin, loopholes of logic I know...
The more I researched (and not because I even care by the way, my spirituality does not limit itself to a book) the more I found most of those lines against actually are related to things that have nothing to do with gay people... and the History... if only people read real historical books, those explain most of such things. Specially the turn of times to the inquisition. One momment you have gays working and building up the vatican the other they are being persecuted
So I'm actually shoving the "think for youself" illuminism card on this question. Also wonder why people do not speack of the gay positive parts in the bible, or why Emmanuel (Christ) did not even care about it.

Ahh, so your theory is that if it were in an original language it would somehow condone gay sex. If you think there are positive parts in the bible about homosexuality, then please list them.

I did not provide any theory, I stated the fact that we do not have enough data or info at all to make some accusations out of historical context ( a very romanticized one even )… I am not going to go throught the book looking...
I might point to gay christians just this facts that might help their spirituality.
"better to give than to receive" Epicuro
"love each other" Plato
"offer the other face" Aristóteles
"love thy enemy" Diógenes Laertus
"do not do to others what you do not like done to you" Confucius
Pitaco, Tales, Sextus, Esopo... Eugnostos the blessed, Apollonius de Tyana... pagans or atheists, still they created the morals of christianity all the sacred text of the Bible.Christ is a message compiled of what was the philosophical knowledge at the time, this character is not meant to be original but a reminder of said knowledge, the bible is compiled of myths and political propaganda, if you want to believe in something you should study it historically and logically make your own rites, never follow someones dogma blindly.
-
You are free to have that opinion however misguided. I have not found a single verse to corroborate that theory. I don't know why you are citing Greek polytheistic philosophers. :pope:
-
Again no theory was provided merely facts stated… I would be rather interested in you proving about what is misguided in the facts stated. Aniway you are trolling far more than providing arguments so I'll stop.

No theory need be provided, since I was asking a question. Why are you listing Greek polytheistic philosophers as evidence for monotheistic Christianity.
-
I wasn't… I was stating the clear relation between christian moral and classic philosophy.

Technically, the bible does not condemn gays as beings. It only condemns gay sex, if interpret it that way.
Most modern day believers accept the being vs actions argument.

I believe that I pointed that out. Love the person and not the sin and God did and does. He prevented the stoning of prostitute because he said "he who is without sin, cast the first stone". This does not in any way, shape or form mean that he condones Prostitution nor does condone gay sex, even though he still loves gay people and gay people can still follow him.
