Very odd coincidence?

I joined last month (Sept '14) and I'm trying to learn as much as possible in these forums. Just now I stumbled on two old posts that have responses addressed to me - back in 2009 and 2010! Here are the links:
https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=6036.0
https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=9496.0 (see the second response.)
I don't recall ever being a member before; was there someone else who used to have the same name? I'm not complaining or anything, I'm just amused, and a little puzzled.

:hiya: ben
I think what you are seeing is your username in the reply because the poster has included the code which says 'insert the member's username at this point'. A bit like the line at the top of mine right now which says "Shouldn't You Be Going To Bed Soon, cannonmc" - the cannonmc bit is actually produced by the code.
So don't be spooked, someone hasn't stolen your identity
PS I think the code here is [you] - that is the word you in square brackets. You should see your username when you read that, I see mine, which is not a lot of use as I already know it :funny2:

I figured it was something like that, or that a former member had the same name. I was puzzled.
Thanks!

Thanks, ben351500. Now I know why "Pornofan" keeps turning up in forums and chat. Not a reference to me at all. Just my luck to have a log-on name that serves an automated function.
-
pornofan, you have it the wrong way round. There is no automated function called [pornofan] - your name turns up because the poster has added the code```
[you]So if I put it in this post here > [you] I will see 'cannonmc' but you will see 'pornofan'

Well hang on, now I see my name thrown in the mix, one would think not knowing the code would make for exclusion not inclusion. At least it's just my name and not my safe word (I try to make sure no one knows that) but still it's slightly unsettling seeing my name being part of conversation I am not involved in.
! I kid, I get the name game code [you] and my safe word is random
