It's time to get a pet, but I am torn between a cat or a dog. Never had a dog before, and wanted to hear some pro's and con's for them. Any particular breed better than others??

Well since I was born I had pets in my house, hehe. Had many dogs, and some cats.

Cats are more independent, they don't need much attention. Dogs are more playful, specially when younger, so you need to give them more attention. Dogs also need you to go out with them, they don't bury their poop, and you probably will lose some stuff because they ate it, hehe.

But like I said, they play more so if you enjoy it, its better, cats many times just ignore you, hehe. Also dogs are more protective and loyal I believe. And they show more love for you than cats.

Personally, I prefer dogs than cats, they play more, they care more about you. But you will need to work a lot more than with cats, hehe.

About breeds, you should get a breed that aren't much agitated like Beagles or Chihuahua, they will give you a lot of work Oo. If you like big dogs I recommend a German Sheppard or a Labrador Retriever. They are really smart, they are good with kids, and are not extremely playful.

The smaller ones I had were all mongrels, so don't know any breed to recommend Oo.

Cats don't bury their poo either, unless you want to roll around on my front yard naked and prove me wrong.  :cheesy2:

          Dogs are great.

Do your research about the various breeds.  Some breeds shed a lot, some breeds have horrible medical issues.  Some breeds are couch potatoes, while others are manic.  Mutts retain many of the traits of their various breeds, while not having all the medical problems.

There are several online places where you answer life style questions and they suggest breeds for you, but be extremely honest or it won't mean anything.

Try rescuing a "post teenager" dog.  They have plenty of life in them and they are quite likely house broken and have other training.

Puppies are very cute and dogs are endearing. Labradors or Golden retrievers are good breeds and can be very quiet and docile if trained well :).

Cats mostly won't stench up a place or be as vocal but that is according to breed, just get what you need  and give it the love.

Most cats arent that loving. Or maybe they are, but dont show it as frecuent as a dog. Stupid butt kissing dogs 😛

I love my cat. He is very demonstrative, sometimes too much.

Cittens are adorable, if you give them love and attention, they give it back. Its also with puppies.
                        But I prefer more cats.
