Large Collection - All In One Place, or Broken Up Bite Sized?
-
Hi guys. I'm really excited to have something to contribute to this site. Everybody else is always so quick to post stuff that I rarely get to upload. So I've got this huge collection of MormonBoyz vids to share. They're freaking hot as hell! I have 67 or these suckers, ranging from ~300 - 1000 megs or so, for a total of almost 30gigs. Since I've so rarely gotten to contribute, I'm not really on the up-n-up of uploading etiquette. Is this too large to be uploaded as a single torrent? I mean, I know it's possible, but is it too alienating for some users? I dug around in the forums a bit and found a couple of threads arguing about it, but didn't really get a feel for one over the other.
Organizationally it makes since to me to have them all in one place. I know the large size can be intimidating for some [heh], but most torrent clients allow for selective downloading so I figure people can always select the ones they want. And if your client doesn't allow this, maybe it's time you switch. ;D I don't want to be a jackass about it, though. Uploading them separately seems like a hell of a lot of work, but I would be willing to break it up some if that's the general consensus. If so, what size should I shoot for?
And if this has been settled before, feel free to just shoot me a link and an annoyed look. lol

You are right…some people will see the total and go Not everyone realises they can pick and choose which individual files they want to download from a multi-file torrent.
I don't think there is a right way. A tip would be to make sure you point out in your description that it is possible just to download what the person wants, it is not just one take-it-or-leave-it file, but a collection.
You could also break it down into a series of smaller collections. But the more information you give people when you post, the better all round.
Thanks for thinking of sharing, I know these movies have been popular on another site.

Well, I hate extremely large torrents, first it spends a lot of my ratio. And second, yes you can choose which ones you want, but most people don't properly show what is the content.
On this packages there should be a Thumbnail of every video, so people would know whats inside them, and if they want it or not. But most people don't do this. Many packages like that I had to download the entire package to see which videos I liked, because there were no thumbnail.
So, to me you should divide it into minor collections, like 5gb each. And put thumbnail of every video. It is boring to do that, but help other users. And you can do it in parts, you don't have to put it all the same day.

I think you are being a little harsh.
First you don't HAVE to download anything, never mind the entire package. And a multi-file torrent will show what files are bing uploaded. And if it is a collection the poster will be TOLD, yes, told by staff, to list the files posted within the description area.
Given a file name and a basic description, it is rare that potential downloaders cannot do their own search. Failing that there is nothing to stop people asking a question in the comments below the torrent.
And how many people who have actually downloaded a torrent that might need thumbnails or extra pics have bothered to make some and post them.
I could give you the recipe for posting the perfect torrent…for me! Others will have their own ideas. But instead of saying we HATE anything (my grandfather did not allow that word) could we not just be grateful that people are willing to spend any time and bandwidth offering and posting anything.
As long as it doesn't break the site rules, the poster is king!
Of course, if anything doesn't come up to our own standards we could always ask for a refund…

As long as it complies with the rules, there's no reason not to upload the entire thing.
I prefer "collections" uploads as it saves me from having to hunt for the individual bits.

I understand your goal, but I actually think you would be better served by making them individual torrents. Not because people will see the large file size and be turned away, but simply because of how long it will take to complete one seed. Let's say I wanted to download the whole thing (with my stats, I can actually afford it), it would take me well over a week like this. Yes, it would probably take me just as long with individual files, but I could be fapping to complete files in the interim. Of course, I can always choose to just download one file, but with the way torrents work, it will probably take even longer to download a specific single file.
That said, I love that you like the site. It's actually the only porn site I've willingly let my one month roll over. I don't think I'll cancel subscription until they stop producing new content. It's that good. Especially as someone who was a mormon missionary, it's like he (the site owner) took all of the sexually suggestive experiences I had on my mission and turned them into actual porn.As an aside, have you seen the sister site, mormongirlz.com? I may not be into girls, but I love that it exists.

The way I understand it (I may be wrong), as an uploader you have a limited time (a few days) to complete one full upload (create one new seed), and your torrent will be automatically deleted if after that period no-one has managed to get a full download (perhaps this doesn't apply if you seed continuously, without a single break, until completion of the first full upload). Depending on your upload speed, you may be struggling to complete one full upload within the alloted time frame with a very large torrent.

The Upload Rules mention "(…) If you do not seed your upload within 3 days, it will be deleted and need to be resubmitted. (...)" is meaning torrents where not a single byte was uploaded, i.e. the uploader never got it to seed.
There is no limit in duration of the initial upload as long as the uploader has uploaded only one new own torrent with not yet completed initial upload. That is on purpose to allow members with lower upload rates to upload bigger torrents. They can well manage to upload a dull DVD Video or a bigger HD movie in a few days, we might else not see here at all. Uploader are a very rare species.
If an uploader choose to upload more than one own torrent at a time, we however ask him to upload complete the initial upload of each of them 24 hours after it has uploaded. This is to avoid that the downloading peers have to wait unnecessary long to complete their downloads.
When a torrent has partly initial seeded, it won't be deleted as long as there remains some hope the uploader will complete the upload. We'll contact him by PM and will track if there is progress (not every uploader can have his computer run 24/7).
Uploader of collections should calculate the duration they'll need to complete the initial upload depending of their internet connection upload rate and the approximate daily seeding duration. If it will take longer than 3 days, they should start to consider to split the collection into smaller parts; A week, might still be acceptable, but nowadays many downloaders got used to get their files in a few hours.
It is very difficult to define a size limit, the differences in upload rates of internet connections got just to different. Here some examples based on 24/7 seeding with max. upload rates (possible if there are multiple downloading peers):
a) Rural long distance ADSL connection 512 kb/s down-, **128 kb/**s upload
- 10 GBytes file needs about 7 days, 14 hours
- about 4 GB in 3 daysb) Urban ADSL+ connection 10Mb/s down-, 1024 kb/s upload
- 10 GBytes file needs about 23 hours
- about 32 GB in 3 daysc) Cable modem 30 Mb/s down, 5 Mb/s up
- 10 GBytes file needs about 4 hours 30 minutes
- about 160 GB in 3 daysd) Basic fibre optics to the home 100 Mb/s down-, 10 Mb/s up
- 10 GBytes file needs about 2 hours 15 minutes
- about 316 GB in 3 dayse) Symmetrical fibre optics to the home or basic seedbox 100 Mb/s down- and 100 Mb/s upload (the upload here is a theoretical value and impossible reach in practice
- 10 GB file needs about 15 minutes
- about 6 TB in 3 days (Seedboxes often got a monthly traffic limit, well below that …)f) There are as well 1 Gb/s seedbox plans, but with a small community like GayTorrents.ru's, it is unlikely that it can be made use of the bandwidth on a single torrent. i'd expect no difference to case e), except by coincidence a downloader itself got such a seedbox.

Also, there's some confusion about how often you must seed.
You are not required to seed your uploads 24/7, as long as there is regular seeding. Best practice, though not required, is to put a notice in your upload description saying that you don't seed 24/7.
Some people are afraid to upload because they wrongly think that they must seed 24/7.

I tend to prefer large packs as well. I just pick and choose what I want to download and disregard the rest. As long as you seed your file initially other people will snatch it left and right and you will be good. I'd only be worried about seeding 24/7 if I was close to the Ratio limit and needed more seeding credit.
