I think you need a 3D monitor (?)

You will need a 3D capable monitor with glasses, as well as a 3D video card if you are going to play it on your computer.

i'm a bit late to the game here, but you can watch 3D movies on a regular PC monitor - you need the red/green or red/blue or yellow/purple glasses (there are some cheap dvd's you can buy that are in 3D and come with the glasses or you can buy them online at places like ahappydeal.com - and you need The KMPlayer. It will take any 3D encoded movie and give you the option of how to view it - "proper" 3D (3D tv 3d), "side by side" or 2D - you just click on the 3D icon at the bottom, pick the type of 3D you want and voila. The KMPlayer converts 3D movies into pretty much every other kind of 3D, so you can watch them in the old fashioned red/green or red/blue format (anaglyph i think it's called). I've got a bunch of 3D movies and watch them this way - and no, it's not quite as spectacular as an actual 3D tv would be, but it's still pretty good, and all it costs is the price of some paper 3D glasses.
note - the polarized glasses you get at the theatre won't work if you don't have a 3D tv, get the anaglyph / coloured glasses.
note #2 - if you wear the coloured 3D glasses for an extended period of time, your vision in each eye will be slightly tinted with the colour of the lense it was looking through, but this goes away shortly.
