New computer, installed newest version of uTorrent, I have used uTorrent forever but this version is riddled with advertising
what is the last version compatible with this site? Or is there better client people are using now? -
If you make a careful customized installation of the latest stable built of µTorrent (3.3.1), it comes without adversing. You just have to deselect a lot not to install with it.
Personally I still use the latest stable built of µTorrent 2.2.1, which can be got there > http://www.filehippo.com/download_utorrent/9859/ or by this torrent > https://www.gaytorrent.ru/details.php?id=765d5b6fdb13cb89114eb0475c2477e5837ebeb8b2bc066e
I've tried qBittorrent and it is a torrent client programme which got all one needs, easy to use. If you know µTorrent, you should not find it too different. It exists for all 3 major OS, Windows, OS X and GNU/Linux. Different staff is using it on all of them and are happy.

When I upgraded my µTorrent things went to S**t with my upload and download speed immediately. There was an ad that said I needed to add this program to improve my speed. So, I downloaded it and nothing changed at all and my next virus scan found items attached to that program that were a threat to my system.
I visit so many sites for posts for the Forums I run the Security Scan nightly and it never caused a problem but the attachments were there never the less.Be careful!?!
I also use the same older version and have never had issues with that version ever!!!

Thanks for the input, thought I was being careful to deselect any extraneous options, etc. but apparently not, will switch to the earlier version and possibly try that Qbittorrent, seems as if all the softwares that were once good become overweight and bloated…

the ads can be removed easily:

I use 3.3.1 and not have seen any ads but have not been able to update either. I downloaded utorrent last june when I got this new laptop and think there must be updates. But, compared to 2.2.1 the performance is similar. My ISP changed too so I don't really have a benchmark for comparison. It never says ports are forwarded no matter what I do but there is a green check on the bottom right (your network is working as it should). So, my conclusion is that my port is forwarded but I am getting a wrong diagnostic.

There is a way to configure removing advertisements beginning µTorrent 3.2 & above. Users are just lazy or don't know how to configure their settings.
µTorrent Stable (3.4 build 30596) is out now.
