Abbreviations used in torrent - names
-
My thoughts might be quite boring for most of the users, but couldn't it be possible, to modify the rules, that abbreviations should be avoided in the torrent - names and descriptions?
I find it quite irritating, when I read "WH-XXX", "BSB-XXX" "OTB-XXX", "CH-XXX" or what ever people use to shorten the studio- or site-names, because there are so much studios and sites, that you never know in the first place, what the used abbreviations might stand for. Especially, when the abbreviations could be used for more than one studio or site. I really would appreciate, if the upload rules would contain a point, where abbreviations should be avoided, in order to prevent any confusion and guesswork.
What do you all think about it?

You can find a list of the abbreviations and what they stand for, here:

Hi Dax,
yes… I know that there is a listing, but due to the case, that users shorten as much as possible ( for what ever reason ) and because there are more and more of them nearly each week, I suggest to cut this out, because I honestly don't really see an advantage by using abbreviations at all - only because you might save 1 or 2 seconds while naming the torrent, isn't really an advantage in my opinion. But if most users like to surf around description pages, to be sure what these abbreviations stand for, I will certainly not complain about the actual usage. ^^

Hello, Speedmaster!
I understand the annoyance the abbreviations may cause to several users, especially the ones who are not familiar with the studios' names.
Some abbreviations though are standardized and used by the studios themselves (eg. TIM - Treasure Island Media, RSS - Raging Stallion Studios, CSM - CockSure Men etc.).
There are some cases where the abbreviations serve a purpose, because otherwise the torrent's name will not appear in full on the site:
a) the torrent's name is already way too long
b) the torrent is not a whole movie but a specific scene of a movie (both the movie's title and the scene need to be mentioned)
c) the video is a collaboration of more than one studios
d) the video's name include the name of more than two actors
etc.
Of course that's my opinion. But I have two recommendations to ALL USERS.
- Avoid using abbreviations in a torrent's name if possible.
- If you use an abbreviation in a torrent's name, have the decency to mention the full studio's name in the torrent's description.
I believe that following those two simple instructions will make things easier for everyone.

The use of studio acronyms can be a very effective mnemonic device to assist in locating media files. Once you are familiar with the major studios, information about their videos can be stored in long-term memory in a structured fashion – with elements of knowledge chained together and organized in schemata related to a studio's variegated themes (the look of the actors used and the well-recognized feel and tone of their videos). For them to become useful to you, it is important to actively interact with each studio as an identity, forming a representation in your mind of whom these studios are, and what themes they represent.
Up till now, the main obstacle for you in familiarizing yourself with studios has been that they change too often. But I have found this not to be the case. Of the three elements used to identify any media– the studio's name, the video's name, or an actor's stage name– it is the studio's name that most often remains a constant. Granted, new studios come and go, but the frequency is not that great– meaning you can count on knowledge of a studio's identity being useful to you for 2 or more years.
With this identity in place, I can move quickly through a database's title-only page, either selecting or disregarding each torrent based on my own _pre–_understanding of what content is likely to be found. For instance, while perusing the list, I am able to disregard everything labled "TT" because my _pre–_understanding of Tim Tales identity as a studio makes it unlikely I'll appreciate those torrents and their contents. This process merely saves seconds off my search, but these seconds add up to wasted time and bandwidth in unnecessary page requests for media that I am not interested in. Efficient ways of navigating media is the better use of everyone's time.

Our Upload Guide additional section says:
Abbreviations and Acronyms … ... I encourage every user not to use them, whenever possible. …
However I see no point in adding a Rule, which we can't enforce and currently we don't have the resources for that. This site is missing eagerly staffing.
BTW: The above "I" should be changed into a "we" …
