This issue has been bugging me since the introduction of the "Add Screenshots and Covers to make some extra SeedPoints" system. (It was great for torrents without preview images but bad for those who already had properly layout covers etc..)

Currently, when someone manually add an image to an existing torrent page, that image become the first image on the page and changes the layout and order of the original page. The page became a visual mess and no longer resemble the original uploader design.

If it's not too much work, I would like to suggest changing this behaviour by adding the new image to the end of the image list.

We are aware of that issue. Nobody likes it, it does make a mess. But that's something only the owner can fix, and it's already on his mile long TO DO list.

However, owners have a limited time where they are allowed to edit their torrent info page. What if they could no longer edit the layout of the images??? 😞

geographer was referring to the website owner's to-do list. Only the site programmer (tom) can change the order in which pictures are added to download pages.

thangcuoi wants to change the order in which pictures are added to download pages so users who are not the creator of a torrent don't mess up the look of the page.
I agree, it would be a bit better. 🙂

OIC, then why not allow the torrent uploader the capability to arrange the pictures??? That would lessen the workload for the site owner/s && I, as an uploader, would be more than willing to be given more control on how to layout the images of my file/s submitted by other users… 🙂

It would be a lot more work than simply changing the behavior of the app by inserting the latest uploaded images at the top but it could be more beneficial in the long run.

That seems like a good idea. 🙂 Only allow the uploader to change or add pictures and edit the description after 7 days.

I'd prefer what thangcuoi suggests along with your idea, but there is a reason it might not work out.

The reason we don't allow users to edit their torrents past 7 days is because some people have went on deleting sprees when they were angry.

So, that may be 1 flaw in your idea because such users might screw up whatever torrents they can since they simply can not delete them.

It's good to now I'm not the only one with this itch. 🙂

While I also like rutterlfort suggetion, the problem with it is anyone can go and add more image after you have just correct the layout. It become too much work to monitor all past uploads.

Good to know what happened why I'm being limited from editing my uploads after a few days >:D…
just hoping this thing somewhat gets fixed.

I personally don't have a big problem with the order additional pictures are published
as it's the same order one has to add pictures when uploading a new torrent (last picture first).

You can see in the majority of uploaded torrents that the uploader thought about a proper presentation
of his new torrent. All the more annoying when someone adds additional pictures and ruins the layout.
Often one has to be grateful when the added content is even from the same movie …

At the moment the only way to prevent adding new pictures is to upload 10 pictures or more.

I wish there was an option on the upload page to disable adding new pictures.
Maybe radio buttons 'Enable adding further pictures' with the default-setting 'Yes' ...

The problem would be some uploaders would only upload one pic, probably a publicity still (which is the most useless for this site), and then more relevant pics could not be attached to the torrent page.

If you see that, the Staff will be happy to delete the pictures not relevant for the torrent. Indicate which, numbering from the last (indicate you count that way).

Edit: Quoted the wrong part (see the post replying to this)

Actually, I don't think it's so much that the pictures aren't relevant.  It's just that they totally change the original presentation of the pictures.  They way they stack now, the last ones added appear first, and the first show last.  So, depending on how many pics are added, the original upload pics will end up at the end, with new pics in the top left order.

I can understand andy32's point.  When I upload a torrent, I load the pics so that the first they see, from left to right, is the box cover, followed by scene grabs from tlavideo and aebn.net.

I know geographer said it's on the "to do" list.  And in reality, I can see where the site owner might not consider it as important as say, if pics weren't appearing at all, which I'm sure would be a priority.

I think two things need to be remembered here.  First and foremost, we're talking about a free site here.  While it's great that uploaders put thought and effort into the presentation to their torrent uploads, pics, descriptions, tags, etc, (as I do), I doubt it changes anyone's mind as to whether they'll download a particular file because of the arrangement of the preview pics.

And secondly, if other users are adding pics, those MAY cause someone to download a torrent that they might not have, especially if they see something in one of those pics that is particularly appealing.

For me, I'm sticking with the "Free is good" motto, and I can live with the fact that my upload may not be the same after I present it.

                            That's my ten cents
                            My two cents is free
                            A nuisance.  Who sent?
                            You sent for me?

I really do wonder if Eminem's would melt in my mouth.  (For those of you old enough to remember the commercial.)  :cheesy2:
