A second seeder during uploading a new torrent

Hello people,
have an important question to new torrents.
Experienced at first time that another GT member was seeding during my seeding the same torrent as the mine.
Have read in the forum that other members experienced the same.
He had a large upload speed. And so I have only seed 1,68 GB from 4,25 GB, All very curiously.
Could only see the second seeder in my torrent client but not his IP address.
The torrent was Man's Best Märchenknaben 1. I seeded previously parts 2 and 3 of this trilogy. My total clean DVD without any scratches had a error in the VTS_01_3.VOB file. Therefore I bought a new DVD. Ripped again, wrote the text, and more.
How is this possible ? That anyone can seed the same torrent as me ?
The movie was not on GT previously. Has he the same DVD ripped ? Or the files from another torrent site on his hard drive ?. Is that enough ? The single files are to see on GT if you like.
No trouble by me undepending that he received the seeded GBs and the bonus. And I made the work and more.
Additional new leechers had contact to my torrent but no upload from me, all from the other seeders now.
Would only like to know how that is possible. That means the way to do that. The function of that all.

simple answers first:
1. Yes, if another person has the same file as you, he can add his seed to yours. Works the same way that you would reseed a file that is on your computer.
2. It is possible he got the file from another site, or ripped it like you did.
difficult question (and one that each has to answer for himself): is it nice to do this?
there is a way that will help avoid this: you can rename the files. For example, just changing "VTS_01_3.vob" to "VTS 01_3.vob" would have made his uploading not work (for this part of the file, the other parts would seed), as the names are different. However, if you do this and the other uploader notices, he can quickly rename his files to match your file names, and it will work.

It is impossible at this point to be 100%positive who the "JUMP ON SEEDER" was for me to send a PM. The next time this happens send a Help Desk Request for quicker response time. The staff frowns on this practice and will PM the offender with a request to stop seeding the torrent in question and a warning not to do so again.
I have given you 150 seed bonus points to make up the difference you lost to this situation. These are from me not the staff way of correcting this problem. :hug:

The peers section on the torrent page is a hide section for privacy reasons since a few months. Otherwise I could see the jumper. Lol.
I like GT very much and will share further on my large collection of DVDs with others.

Have not seen this mention previously. I just assumed something is broken for me.
Mods, this issue had came up before. I really think it should be included in the Rules section. Despite people best intentions, majority of the site users are not active in the forum. It's probably a shock to whoever receive this kind of warning.

Adding "jump on seeding" as a rule is really a tough situation. Why you ask?
Scenario 1:
What if an uploader is just sharing something I uploaded to another torrent tracker and I happen to come across it here on GTRU. I did all the hard work of creating the torrent so why should he/she get all the seeding credit here?Scenario 2:
Let's say I have a really slow upload speed. A member of the site sends me a PM asking if he can help me with the initial upload since he has the same video that he can share. I say yes and just sit back and reap the benefits of the seed bonus points users give me for uploading the torrent.With either scenario I can empathize with the member who is trying to help with an initial upload. If it just some member trying to get free seeded traffic and is too lazy to create an upload himself then I can assure any uploader that any site mod will intervene to correct the situation once they are notified.

Have you ever downloaded anything from another tracker here and shared it elsewhere or, downloaded from another tracker and shared it here?
I will readily admit I'm guilty of both. And I've a good feeling, that isn't such a small club. What I do now is, I'll create two torrents, one for here and one for the other tracker. I launch one on either tracker and, as soon as I have leeches, I launch the second on the other tracker and seed both using the same file. (For the record, I use a seedbox, so speed and output don't pose problems seeding the same file on two torrents.)
Lastly, I said this in another thread. In all honesty, before I even used a seedbox, I used to welcome jump on seeding (for torrents that I launched) as it meant more people got the videos quicker. But that's just my personal opinion.
