Not sure if this has been suggested before but would this be possible ?

I know that torrents have a star rating system at the minute that nobody really uses  but if there was the option to rate the Video Quality the Sound Quality and the Content seperatly would be great….

Not really needed for dvds, but for the mpgs and avis etc this would be pretty handy to see if the video quality or sound quality are any good before downloading it.  Unfortunately some people dont know how to use video compression software properly - or compress the video waaaaay to much making the video look like a 1980s vhs copy...

When im downloading NZB files etc from usenet it is the norm for the video and sound rating to be included....

      Thanks for reading  :lovp:

Actually, a lot of the DVD-Rs are shrunk so badly, that they are nearly impossible to watch due to motion blur.

On occasion I go back to a downloaded video to give seed bonus and give an a/v rating in the comments section (v:8 a:9).
Mostly for themed movies because they often are REALLY crappy.
It might be a good idea for all downloaders to make the effort to rate quality in the comment section. That helps others.

Thats true…. if the uploader is the one who shrank the dvd then they should also upload the original (possibly dvd-9) aswell...

If it is possible to do so, yes… It should also be noted that the DVD is a shrink if it has been run through something like DVD Shrink. That just makes things much better all around for all users involved.

People that shrink dvds should be executed in the most painful manner possible.

DL DVDs are so cheap that there is no need to do it anymore.  Maybe 5 years ago they had a point, but no longer.

In theory this would be an excellent feature. In reality it's a simple fact that only every 200th to 500th downloader user uses the existing rating feature.
And his rating doesn't even say that much. In a perfect world a 5-star rating  means the downloaded file exeeds the expectations of the leecher
(quality- and contentwise). In reality there are users out there who don't even download a file and rate it with one star (sucks!).

My indicator that I always look for are comments by other users. Not only are the usernames of the posters visible
(which fends of the grumpy/destrucive kind mentioned above), but the comments are far more detailed.
