Discussion about Power User rank.
-
Hello people.
I have an idea for some changes to the power user status and i want to share them and to get the opinion from the community.
The present requirements to be a power user are the requirements to be a good (fair) user on a private tracker like this one but not to be a POWER one.So.. my own approach for the power user status is something like this:
- At least 2 months registered member on the tracker.
- At least 200GB download.
- Ratio should be always >2 to keep the status.
- Warned (not for ratio) users should have their status removed until the warning flag expires.
Personally i believe that power users should set a good example (or the standards) for all others members and this change is needed on our tracker.
Please share your opinions on this
Thanks for reading

Hmmm, that sounds pretty harsh for me. Just let's take the current facts in account:
| Topic | Currently | projected | Factor |
| –------------------ | –------------- | –------------- | –-------- |
| Length Membership | > 4 weeks | > 2 months | 2 |
| Upload amount | > 40 GB | > 200 GB | 5 |
| Ratio | > 1.05 | > 2.0 | 2 |What can we offer for power users currently?
-
more torrents to download
-
profilie security
-
invites
Do these things relate?

Personally, I think we should increase requirements for Power User, but I don't think the change should be too extreme.
One month as a member is is fine for me.
I've always hated using odd numbers. I much prefer using multiples of 25. So in this case I would raise the minimum upload amount to 50.
1.05 is the lowest Power User ratio I have seen on any tracker. 1.50 and 2.00 are the usual ratios for Power Uses.

Well… there could be:
1 month
1.11 ratio
111GB uploadFor those believing in superstition. ;D

200 GB Downloaded? Anyone can download. Do you mean UPload perhaps? I do not think DOWNloading should have anything to do with what type of user you are at all- maybe a LEECHER and that's about it, lol.
Ratio- eh, that would be great for someone to have to make them as a power user (i think, too)- and then again world peace would be nice as well!
On another note, I think the types of users should be expanded to allow for different types of privileges. It does seem rather basic to really only have 2 types of users- regular and power really are the only type because really, who is going to graduate to be a "Founder"?
Examples:
Auto Approval could come with its current requirements, along with something else and have that be part of a type of user itself.I think time based on activity should be a qualifier for a type of user as well, or define a certain user in combination of other things as well.
I would love assisting in the creation of a matrix for such qualifiers for types of users

Maybe some distinction would need to be made about how the UPLOAD number was arrived at.
Currently there are four ways to get upload credit:
1. Donate
2. Upload new torrents
3. Help to seed a swarm after downloading a file
4. Seed time bonus. They all have the same impact on your ratio, but not necessarily the same effect on the workings of the site. The site would grind to a halt without #2. #3 is great, but you don't want that number to be too high, because that is a zero-sum game and if some seed too much, others with slower DL speeds wind up unable to seed enough. (there is another thread in the forum about power seeding repercussions). And #4 is a gift of the site. Maybe those would affect different distinctions of Power Seeder?

the OP's suggestion is way too harsh!
i think the current requirements are fine.
we have to take into consideration the fact that some of us have lives outside the net and most of us may not be able to meet those said requirements if implemented.

- At least 200GB download.

The biggest problem is that a ratio above 1 is not sustainable for the whole population. For everyone that has a 1.5, you have others at 0.5. For one to go up. the other has to go down by the same amount. The only way you get "residual ratio" is to have people with low ratios who fall off of the site. It reminds me of Lake Wobegon, "Where all of the children are above average", and the sports expectation of people giving 110%, or 150%. (if all of the children are above average, where does the average come from?)
On the other hand, the only thing that the 200GB download would ensure is that the upload target must be at least 400GB, based on that ratio. It demands that for every user that succeeds at uploading that amount, there must be (on average) another that uploads nothing.

I seed forever that which I download, and sometimes the ratio never hits 1.000; I can't seem to get past the 1.5+ range. Who do I have bend over for or
blow so I can get over this hump? -
:rotfl: You could trade some of your Seed Bpnus Points for upload traffic and your ratio would go up but only slightly at this point. ;D

Thanks LBC I like being a powerbottom …er...User, so I'll just have to work harder to get to the 2.0 mark
should the policy change. -
I do not forsee a change in the requirements for Power User at anytime in the near future.

i see. hehehe i just got promoted to power user

Besides the upload amount and the time being member, Power User status requires a share ratio of 1.05 .
It is taken away if the share ratio drops down to 0.95 .It does not require a share ratio of 1.5 or even 2.0+ …
Up- and download on a tracker globally are balanced at 1.0 (in theory), on our tracker there is more upload, because of the exchanged Seed Bonus Points.
Clearly if a member is "just" downloading torrent's files and then seeding them back, it will be difficult to get a share ratio over 1.0 , original torrent posters have always an advantage regarding share ratio.
