What GT.ru desperately needs, but how do we get it?
-
What GT.ru desperately needs is more users being active in our forums. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this; in fact, I'm sure the majority of the active six or so users would agree with me. My personal pictures post has garnered almost 2000 views, so there must a lot people who read the forums but just don't post. The hard thing is how do we encourage our fellow porn sharers to post?
I think there has to be some kind of incentive. I know a lot of people here are seed bonus whores like me. What about some sort of system that either gives a small bonus to each post or a bonus multiplier based on posting level attained. The latter would most likely be more effective in discouraging users from spamming the forums for bonuses.
Or how about a bonus awarded to a user who receives ten or more replies to his or her topic?
I'm sure others have ideas too, so let's hear them.
I figure all we need is to just get the snowball rolling.

This topic has been dicussed and is under consideration now by the Staff Admins. Just what form of system will be implemented has yet to be determined. In the meantime we can only carry on as we have ~ Keep Posting and know that it is appreciated by the members whether they reply to a post or not.
The forums are much more active now than just a very few months ago :jaj:
We have added many new SIG's and more are in the works.I do :thx: for your activity in the forums and hope to see you continue that activity. What we need most right now are members like you to become active in the forums and then stay active until the reward system details can be worked out and implemented.

I hate to say this but the "lurkers" will always far outnumber the active forum posters. And believe it or not I don't mind that at all. A reward would be nice but there is already a new reputation system in place to show everyone how active any given poster is. That being said, If a member needs "real" help on this tracker it is here to be had.
I personally think a big draw to the forums is if we created a depot for file sharing links(gay content of course). If a file is under our 50MB minimum upload requirement but is hot none the less then a link to it could be posted. It requires little effort on anyones part and really does draw a crowd. On the "other" gay tracker I participate in the file sharing links to good content on rapidshare, megaupload, mediafire etc. is what I keep going back for.
Just a thought.

:true: It certainly could not hurt the forums to have such links in a Special Forum for that purpose or in each SIG as suggested earlier.

Hi all,
I have been a long timer lurker.. I'm coming out of the bushes lol..
Bluehue has put up some great idea's ..If it cant be done automaticly, give the mods power to manually give the seed bonus. you can make a list of what type of messages can qualify and how much given. Like the guys who post photo's of themselves should be given extra credit.
I think the new Special communities has done a great job…I'll be adding to it when i get some time..

speaking of which, how does the reputation meter work?

speaking of which, how does the reputation meter work?
Your reputation increases when
-
Someone clicks the blue heart on the left hand side, under your name [ [img]http://forum.gaytorrent.ru/Themes/GTru/images/karma.gif ]
and agrees with your posting - if the user disagrees his reputation points are subtracted from your reputation. The reputation points differ according to the giver's reputation power- You create a new thread (3 reputation points)
- You make a new posting in an already existing thread (one reputation point)
Edit: clarified a bit

Thanks aaliass.
I blue hearted you.

I know I post very little because there isn't so much activity so it becomes a self-fulfilling thing I guess where you don't post because others don't which lead to more non-posting etc. But look at it this way - we avoid some of the huge fights that happen on other forums and it must make moderation easier. There is one site out there (oh I won't name it you likely know already) that has no less than 10 moderators assigned to a "hot topics" forum. Ridiculous - there's an example of unwanted activity in forums and indeed it attacts bad behaviour. But I agree we could use somewhat more here and not necessarily with problems.
An incentive system makes sense such tieing forum post count into the seed bonus or as an alternative where you also would be more willing to give bonus to uploaders because you are able to recoup some in posting. Win-win deal I would think. Reputation power is good too but for all the ratio is the thing.
Happy 2010 Everyone. -
I belong to two other torrents sites that have forums and also to a few other gay forums. I think that there is a challenge in general, as there is so much competition for garnering new ideas in gay forums in general.
What interests one person will not interest another. Unfortunately, in a torrent site that has forums attached, we all know why most people are here. The forum is just an added benefit that people browse when they are on the site. Many people will not participate in a forum, just because they are afraid that they will be shot down and too many people take the internet to heart.
I've been to several forums where there are fights and name calling and abuse of other members and it just goes on and on…. I think that any forum is going to have its share of bad apples and then there are going to be some really great and interesting posters as well.

When I first joined GT.ru a couple years ago, I tried to be very active, starting a fair number of new threads and weighing in on many of the discussions that interested me. I was hoping to stimulate more discussion amongst the active membership and bring out some of the lurkers.
Alas, my efforts failed miserably.
Content is what brings out participation. A forum for posting of nude pics and movie clips would help. A forum for erotic stories might generate some interest. A forum for discussion of music (with links to audio clips) might help (especially if a media player could be integrated into the web page). Re-organization of the fora to make the available content more obvious would help ("Off-Topic" conceals the presence of too many major "sub"-fora, which deserve to be advertised on the main fora "start" page).
It would help to facilitate discussion if hot links could be posted in the threads which actually linked to the content under discussion (as, for example, by routing the link through a re-directory service to conceal the origin of the link).
Finally, every sub-forum ought to be moderated by a person with interest in the subject of that forum. The forum moderator should be indicated on the start page of each sub-forum, with PM contact information for questions or comments. And moderators should be encouraged to start many threads themselves, to help initiate discussions in their areas of interest.

Well, I do try ….... and I will not be discouraged from the effort. The forums are a much more active part of GT.ru now than ever before and with time they will only become more active.
-
From what I've seen here in the very short time that I have been on the site, indicates to me that there is a real effort in making the forums more active. I know that I plan on being around for a while.
-
I do have a rather radical suggestion to make.
Users active on the forum should be able to upload new stuff via torrent, but which can be found in the forum only and not in the search database. i would suggest that these uploads should be about say requested files, or popular ones for which users will gladly spend some extra time on the forum.
I do realise it may not mean that the people downloading these files will post to the forum, but they will be forced to visit the forum

I have an update to this topic! Since the discussion stalled on this back in February the staff has been doing some major spring cleaning. Here is just a small nugget of what has been done.
-
The Special Interest Groups(SIGs) have a home of their own now! Take A Look!
-
The Cartoon Comics & Yaoi SIG has a media link section. It's Right Here! Other SIG media link sections should be popping up soon. ;D
-
A New Books & Magazine torrent category has been added to the tracker. A Books & Magazine SIG is coming soon. Here you can discuss literature or even post your own writing if you would like!
-
We have added Several new incentives to upload with rewards for members who participate in the forums. Mainly games and riddles in the Off Topic section.
-
There is now a Reviews Section for member to review everything from video games to porn to literature. Why not write one for us?
-
We are trying to clean out old and irrelevant post that are cluttering the threads.
There is alot more and still more to come. We just can't make formal announcements on some of it yet. ::)
Have a look around and let us know what you think!

Thanks for the efforts, cumeater!
I like the SIGs, especially.
