More leechers than seeders - STILL !!!!

For nearly two weeks now I have been trying to get a file, actualy 2 files of over 3gig each, and so have two otheres...I requested a reseed in the hope of getting a few mor seeders to start again, but only one did, and then they dissappeared also
Since I started the download, I know of one other leecher that has completed the file, but just like the rest of the guys around the torrent sites ( including this one) well they grab it and then don't share it !!!Well I am still at 80 odd % with my two downloads, with only one seeder, who is, no offence, very slow in getting files from, and I don't get great speed either
and I have left my client running 24/7 over the past three days. There goes my limit with my isp and my bandwidth for the month - so I am considering dumping the already downloaded files and this site !! I have already deleted a couple of torrents I uploaded for the same reasons...Why do the admin staff let this go on and on and on ???? Got me stumped, especially when I for one, try to do the right thing and seed whatver I get...
Surely I can't be the only member of this site that feels this way ?? Tired of hearing the normal excuses, of "it's the holidays, etc..."

Do you think we download and monitor each and every file? Well, no we don't. I could if you would like to pay for me to get truly unlimited ADSL.
We can't physically force people to seed. We can only do a few things such as limit their ability to download. This in many cases gets people to seed because they want more porn.
It's a no win situation. If we remove the ratio caps, then the problem gets worse because no one will feel the need to seed. If we increase it then the problem gets worse because many people will get banned even though they are trying to do the right thing. Either way we constantly get complaints from 1 side or the other, but usually both at the same time.
To be honest, I would love to bitch slap some of the people around here. Some think this is a free porn site. Well it's not, it's a porn sharing community.
Personally, I would rather teach people how to be good BT citizens than ban them, but some people are just greedy and won't care no matter what we do.
Btw, the holidays are over so people can't use that excuse.

Well, dont leave.. I dont have porn to share, but you can ask Sun Guru to see if he has the vid you need. I'm sure he will help you out. He has great upload speed so you dont have to worry about the long time to get the file

I fully understand the situation that the forum and board admin find themselves in , and I totally agree that they can't do a damn lot to make ppl seed their leeched files etc., but you would have to agree it does get very FRUSTRATING for others that are loyal to a few torrent sites, this one being my fav….
If in my country I could get the speed and stuff you mentioned, well I would gladly pay for it, but the way it works here, well...too many isp's having to go through ONE major telephone co...so they control it all, pricing, allocations etc., etc., and I hate to say it...but they sure know how to charge.
I am already paying more thank I thiink I should be for my service, but we have very little competitive choices here is Oz.I also fully appreciate that it is afree porn site and that sharing is the name of the game...and also that not all users have the priviledge (??) of having great up or down speeds....all I"m saying is that it is a huge dissapointment to myself that there are so many "grab and run" type users in many of the torrent site...
I know the expenses involved in running such a site also...as I run my own Personals site, but I have done so far without having to resort to banner aedds etc ...and it is still a free site.
Oh well, that's life I guess....but it still makes me damn angry and confused as well as majorly frustrated at the lack of manners some users have !! Personally, I don't think trying to educate bad users will work either ...some ppl just can't be taught good manners

Unfortunately it's a (bad) common abitude in many torrent comunities… It's called "hit and run" but even if you punish those users, the thing is always the same. The next time try to download a torrent with more then one or two users.

The UK is facing a major retreat from truly "unlimited" broadband. There are a few companies that do still have it but the cost is outrageous, one company that has it is charging £100 per month with a £250 set up charge. Most UK companies are price gouging us to death. £25 a month for a 2 to 30gb cap is pretty common nowadays. The trend is expected to get worse.
I just switched from a horrible ISP to a "good" one. My new ISP is £30 a month for 45gb peak time {Monday thru Friday 8am to 10pm} and 300gb off peak. That's up to 8mb down with 1mb up. However, even though I live in the UK's oil/gas capital, we only get 4mb lines. That's almost 12x more transfer a month and 4x the upload speed for £10 more a month.
The complete opposite trend is happening in the oriental countries. While we talk about MB lines and caps, they are talking GB lines with totally unlimited usage.
As a fellow BTer and moderator, I too feel the frustration that many are feeling.
We {the staff} are trying to find ways of turning this site into a community, instead of just a porn site in the minds of the users. This would help with the hit n runners and make people feel more responsible for their actions. Of course there will always be scum, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

I just looked at the site stats. Here's the currently active stats;
Torrents 1,306
Seeders 4,696
Leechers 1,844There are almost 4 times the number of seeders as there are leechers on at the moment. Of course the numbers increase a lot at night and on the weekends.
This shows that overall the site isn't doing too bad.

or seeders with faster connectiondont know why we dont all have symetric connection

I have been following this with interest, but hate to say it, but am going to anyway -
When I said, too many leechers and not enough seeders, I was not speaking in general, I was referring to many of the files that I have leeched and shared, and files I have uploaded for others etc.
In one case one file uploaded had 154 snatches (no offence to the female anatomy) and out of that lot there appeared to be only 10 or 12 seeders when they completed the download. According to the stats and also my client.
While the general stats provided by the apparently new owner of the site are interesting to say the least, one can't help but still wonder about the general "grab and run" situation on the site as well as others?
It would be nice to have the up and down speeds that I see from other users, who might have cable etc., but here in Oz, wer are still stuck with the 120year+ copper cabling system despite out major telco making a 4.5Billion $au profit over the past year. Oh yeas we can have cable, if we want to pay for it, a paltry 300$au just to have it from our house to the street, more if you want a complete cable to the nearest telephone exchane, and then there is the added cost of having to pay for the connections at the said exchange…
We are also obliged to pay ( in my case) $60au per month for a 512kbs speed connction with a upload limit of 28Gig and same for download...if we exceed that limit, we are capped at 64k for the remainder of the month.
Right now, it is also nice to see that the new changes in regards to the seeding bonus is making everyone happy to ...yeah right.
Anyway, I've got it all off my chest now ...so thanks guys ...

I'm not the "new owner" or even part owner, I'm just a moderator.
Tom, the site owner, is fiddling in the background making changes to the site in hopes of improving it. Plus he's been on the phone screaming at the server host to improve the service we've been getting lately.

sorry to start adding side owner comments to this for a while.. to much todo actually..
i think we did already enough with having the most taff ratio system arround… other sites allow more leecher-friendly stuff then we already do. we have 0.35 others just 0.25, till now we ban people automatically who doesnt get there ratio to 0.35 after 3 weeks.. our site user ammount grows slowly cause of many users get banned and finally deleted... we deleted more then 8000+ users till now.
people always leech, try to cheat and not follow the rules... its normal. on other sites it is even worth but looks better cauz they have 10 times so much users...
so my suggestion @playmate: stay on.... lean back and watch.... more users=more seeders..
some other people complain that nobody downloads the stuff they are seeding.. for that kind of people we should lower the ratio...
you can see, it is really hard to find the right rules for everybody.... we will never get the same opinion for all users here....
if i would know the perfect solution, i would do everythink for it to have it here - fast!

I find this discussion interesting but almost without warrant, due mainly to the complexity of the arguments. For instance I?ve recently completed downloading ?pension juniors? ? a fab movie that I?m certain must be popular. Even though I have it available for seeding no one is taking it up, I?m sure this is due to the fact that there are already a high enough number of seeders. So I WANT it uploaded to improve my ratio and because I, like most of you, feel compelled to share in the spirit of ?community? but it proves impossible.
When all is said & done, this is a fine site with a credible and welcome attitude.

My PC is on and online 24/7 and most of the time I am seeding items that I have downloaded. About the only time I am not seeding is when I am online (as it slows down my surfing when seeding).

Hi, every time I download a torrent I try 2 seed it till my ratio is 1. I keep seeding only if I see that there are no other seeders or if I see a request? i deleted most of the monies I downloaded, because I dont like them. Isn?t over seeding a bad think? When I finish downloading a new torrent, most of the time a have o ratio of 1.5 or more ?? I have the feeling that I did something wrong and not that I helped. I?m I wrong ? why seeding 24/7 when somebody?s ratio is 1?

Some over seeding isn't a problem. It's when people over seed by huge numbers that causes the problems.
There will always be people who refuse to seed back, so the rest of us have to take up the slack. This will cause the good users to over seed on many torrents.
If your client is set up correctly you can leave it to run 24/7 {if your ISP allows it} and it will seed as needed and tend not to over seed unless there are no other seeders.

we should all get symmetrical lines then i would not have a problem seeding
if not symmetrical lines (like 1mb down and 1mb up) then fiber like 10down 1 mb upthere should be a law that would make minimum upload to 1Mb
that would be cooli envy you guys with FiOS in the usa or fiber in north of europe and asia
stuck with cable and only 400kb upload between 4 people in the house
