Would you use protection if HIV didn't exist?

Imagine HIV wasn't an issue any more. Would you stop using protection given that there are other (nasty) STDs around or would you still keep it safe?

I'd prefer not to have to deal with Herpes, Syphilis, or any other STD for that matter.
Protection unless i was in a closed/monogamous relationship.

Ever since I caught an STD years n years ago it made me think "Wow, we're all concerned about HIV and we are all forgetting the other STD'S going around." We, referring to people and friends I knew…not the "you dear reader" we.
My story. Went home with a guy that I had the hots for. Made my heart melt type of guy. Ended up being a roommate of a girl I went to school with since Elementary. Which is when I learned a lot more than taught in school, which was zero. Doctor said he may not even know and be a carrier.
If I'd known how it was gonna end up I at least woulda gotten laid.

Back in the day, i've had the clap, and syphilis. Got the needle each time and all was fine.

in the past two years of being on PrEP i've had like two or three stds. i used to be really paranoid about catching STD's and then found that once i had one or two that were symptomless, it wasn't worth worrying about as much. i'm still an advocate for condoms when my partner wants to use them. science! it solves problems!

I use a condom during anal sex, but even then you can still catch something. Talking with friends, Anal Warts seem to still be an issue, HPV.
Sadly, I don't believe there is any way to realistically protect yourself with oral sex. In no way, would I ever be horny enough to suck a cock that is wrapped lol. I'm not even sure if there's a normal amount of men who could stay hard while getting sucked off and wearing a condom. Also, cutting a condom's tip, then cutting it length-wise, so it's in a rectangle, and placing that over the bootyhole to terrorize the fuck out of it with my tongue just seems like too much work and if it didn't look presentable and smell fresh I wouldn't eat it anyways.
It does drive me nuts though that most gay guys I've talked to in the leather scene are like, I'm on Prep I can take as many loads as I want. Before PREP was common, it drove me even MORE NUTS when guys would be like, "meh, it's just two pills a day" if they were to become positive for HIV. People can really be stupid.
Guess my final thoughts are, I treat cum like poison if I'm in a ho mood, don't do drugs (love poppers, but swear they're ruining my eyesight), and focus more on my fetishes that make me blow a load hard instead of just focusing on anal sex.
